Booted up College Football 25 and...

I spent just 3 minutes with the game to compare it with current NHL 24 and, well, NHL team please take notes.

  • The loadup intro is super hype
  • Presentation is on point with multiple teams having unique intros
  • I'm sure it will eventually get old but first impression is the game has fantastic atmosphere which pairs well with my last point
  • What's this... different people, no clones in the crowd who have actual emotion and don't look like they belong in an episode of Moral Orel?
  • Dear lord the menus are buttery smooth, responsive, and fast
  • Nice stylization choice with the scribbles and notes

Just to name a few.

Of course, NHL 25 will need more than just snappy menus to make me happy but hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.

  • Juxtaposing CF25 with NHL24 leaves me with one simple word: stale.

In spite of the efforts to make the NHL series appeal to more 'modern' gamers (The Fortnitification of the entire multiplayer experience), it's things like the re-issued presentation elements that seem to linger for decades, a multiplayer gameplay flow that allows 1 user to pause the game for 11 other people combined with forced cinematic cellys and cumbersome play-to-play flow.. everything feels incredibly stale.

Everyone should do themselves a favor and download the trial for CF25 just to experience the night & day difference in menu responsiveness in another EA title.

That said, I didn't venture into any online modes, so I can't say if the online-menus suffer the same fate of being clunky, so and otherwise a pain in the butt to navigate.

"Fortnitification" is the perfect way to describe the trend of this series lmfao.

  • It's almost like not being trapped in a yearly release cycle which only allows you to bolt new  features on a legacy code base helps produce a better product.  Imagine that.

Agreed, and a problem in the NHL series is that it's annual, not persistent like Fortnite.  All the achievements, items, animations unlocked are all reset with mostly the same items once a year, making it all feel transient, repetitive, and ultimately uninteresting.

@KidShowtime1867 The Menus are nice in CFB25, until you hit recruiting, then they are clunky and not smooth at all. At least the NHL team understand SIM logic unlike the CFB 25 teams.
