Does vision control disable hitting in the offensive zone?

Trying to throw a weak hit rather than attempting to bang in rebounds was remarkably frustrating to me in the community test as penalties taken in these situations decided a few games. Like the title, does holding LT/L2 now disable hitting when you are off the puck in the offensive zone?

This determines whether I buy the game or not. I only play online in drop-in and club so accounting for how quickly possession changes in traffic, latency, and the natural delay in human reaction time it was difficult to be a Holmstrom-type player on offense without taking constant penalties. I only get a couple hours a night to play games and getting frustrated taking penalties when I'm trying to shoot is not how I want to spend my unwinding time.
