@KlariskraysNHL Of course there's lots of factors that go into skating speed. That's why in that old post I presented a scenario with as few variables as could as a launching point for the conversation.
Part of the issue is that the community ( especially those playing online ) have no real way of knowing exactly what's going on under the hood. For example, how much of a hit to speed, acceleration and agility does the puck carrier actually take? Is it a flat value or a percentage of their attribute's base value or some other calculation? Are there other attributes that come into play? We don't know, and it makes it really difficult to look at even the most basic, straight-line plays and determine if the game is behaving as it should or not.
Personally, I'd love to have the curtain pulled back and have some in-depth breakdowns on how these mechanics work. Of course there's a subset of the community that would nitpick such explanations to death or just outright deny them, but it's a shame we're all kept in the dark due to them.
