@EA_Aljo please, I beg you, do everything you can to run this issue up the chain for us. This is absolutely gamebreaking to people who use LT & A properly.
There are ways to actually fix this problem, using the methods OP just laid out. Breaking a feature purposefully to achieve a desired goal is, simply put, lazy and unacceptable to long time fans of the sport and this franchise. Anyone else in any other profession would be canned on the spot for taking shortcuts like this.
I know you have limited sway on final decisions but we're all just asking for you to do everything you can to help us out on this.

Rightfully so. It was an abusive combination of mechanics that allowed players to unrealistically turn their back to an opponent to not only negate any ability to body check but also to entice a poke check and trigger a penalty.
As it stands right now, unless you're skating top-speed into the slot, you are STILL able to utilize this to the degree that you're describing; using it properly.
- 2 years ago@KidShowtime1867 I literally said that people *shouldn't* be able to skate into this and you show a guy skating full speed into it. Cmon man. I literally said it had to be a "glide-only" mechanic and nerf other attributes.
EA Aljo is talking about the "intended purpose of LT+A," what is it? Because these plays aren't what we're talking about.
Also, this defender wasn't even going for a hit, he was committing on a poke check and completely going completely out of position when he should be backskating and staying chest to chest with the forward.
Once again, this is NOT what we're talking about. I'm just talking about being able to turn my body properly when I'm gliding on the blue line and I need to *turn my body* going at like 5 mph in a glide. THAT is what I'm talking about. Figure it out.- KidShowtime18672 years agoHero

I really don't have any say on final decisions. That's up to the team. I just gather your feedback and report it all to them. That said, I wouldn't expect this to return. Hopefully, we'll see changes so that it can be used in a manner that doesn't get exploited and cause unrealistic skating. For now though, it's gone and I don't see it returning. Not anytime soon at least. As with every year, we have to adapt to the changes.

Literally just make it so you can't use it while you're skating....
If you are just the feedback gatherer, why can't we get an answer on why they didn't have a dev fix the actual problem. This is just throwing the baby out with the bathwater. The people that are pissed hate the spammers just as much. We just want to be able to turn in a given direction. Nerf it. Make it the worst thing in the world unless you just want to turn your body going like 4mph. There are ways to fix this that let people turn their bodies and don't exploit the game. I lead a team of 10 engineers at my day job and this is NOT how you fix stuff. I play hockey IRL and this is legitimately infuriating.
We're talking about "turning left" or "turning right" for christ's sake, that doesn't involve skating in a giant circle.- EA_Aljo2 years ago

I don't decide why things are changed and I'm not involved in those discussions. Regardless, I already explained why it was changed. This was an exploit. I hope we find another way to turn in a given direction. I certainly miss being able to do that.
This is also a video game that is attempting to replicate how a human physically plays hockey. Not only that, but converting arms, legs and their freedom of motion to buttons and sticks on a gamepad while also trying to counter ways that can be exploited. I'm sure rotating a player's body sounds like a simple task, but if it were that simple to make it work perfectly, it would have been done. We don't want to just take away this functionality as the easy way out. We try to find proper solutions. Mapping dozens of moves to 14 buttons and 2 sticks that try to replicate how a human plays hockey is a pretty tremendous task, but obviously doesn't cover every possible movement people can do. As I said, hopefully, we'll have a better way to handle this in the future. In the meantime, I'm very sorry you're not happy with this change. I hope we can hit that mark sometime down the road.
