In the interview https://www.rds.ca/balle-courbe/nhl-...tes-1.17367805 he says "We haven't done/ had allot of focus on the offline modes." Not even saying We haven't put our energies into offline game modes." or nothing about there being no changes at all. Unless there's an interview/ somewhere else he's said this.
So there can be basic/ long overdue editing features and lingering problems fixed, instead of a complete overhaul like the gameplay is sounding like. Hope is low with EA but I would like to go by his exact words. @bg0vzeyqov1y if I read that right you are saying they will be working on offline modes before release but we won’t find out until more deep dive videos?
- bg0vzeyqov1y2 years agoNew Veteran@KennyN1220 I'm not saying they will/ wont be working on them for certain, only that they could maybe be sprinkling in fixes/ changes etc. for the offline modes before launch or during updates. There is hope I think.
All I know is in that video when asked about the offline modes Mike never says anything like "there will be no fixes/ changes to franchise/ BAP at all whatsoever in NHL 24" unless there's somewhere else he's said it. @bg0vzeyqov1y yeah we will have to wait for all the deep dives and other videos. I mainly play offline modes so it would be nice to see some changes to them that I feel will make them better! I think the gameplay looks great and I hope to play the beta next week to get a feel! I am glad to see the game move in a right direction.
- Jammalammalam2 years agoSeasoned Veteran@KlariskraysNHL Just what the defense ordered, eh? A weakening defense for keeping the puck in zone and a wheezing floppy goalie the more shots you fling at him from anywhere on the ice.
They put a defenseman on the cover for 24 and showed tired defenseman, tired goalies, tic-tac-toe passing, custom dekes, sustained pressure, reverse hits while maintaining the puck at full speed and the defenseman get... shove.. - @Jammalammalam While Makar can play some great defense it is his offense that gets showcased. I've always said this and it always rings true... Offense must always reign supreme. It creates those insane highlight reels.
ea might be worth billions of dollars but the nhl team is small compared to madden and fifa. gotta remember madden and fifa sell more copies day one than nhl does the whole year combined

@JagavekovSee that is how you view it. I view the exhaust engine as their way to try and combat ragging the puck. They are encouraging people to be in the offensive zone and working the puck around. Being on the Penalty Kill will feel probably even worse now showing true nature to how it would be in real hockey with them tiring and the offense getting better chances. You can't just hold onto the puck in the offensive zone to get the meter up you gotta cycle and get shots. Also note while the defense gets weaker the offense also gets a boost in stats. So you can't go around skill zoning on defense you actually have to attack and force plays. And your method doesn't work for WoC so this system takes care of all the modes.I think, to @Jagavekov 's point, this can be accomplished without the need for an arcade-type meter being displayed on the ice/along the boards.
The U.I. is already in place to show your line's energy levels - why not just have that appear on-screen in the bottom right/left corner at points when their energy has decreased to dangerous levels?
As for combating ragging the puck, I don't think the video showcased players passing the puck and controlling it in their own zone for a period of time, which is what raggers do.

I read on you tube Tougie24 channel who has played the game and as expected they have not listening to the offline community about full presentation so now we know for sure they do not care one bit about us who complained several months about the condensed presentation it is all about online gaming.

The Intros are still short unfortunately. The philosophy is getting people into games as fast as possible. Which does suck for people like us who wants that extra immersion like we used to have.

No excuse for what they have done to this game. They have wasted their limited (according to you) resources on levitating player intros, trick shots, power up meters, etc., Instead of making the gameplay better for about a decade. They have actually made the skating far worse since NHL 14, doesn't take a large team to not make things worse.
