I remember you trying my old setup of 23 at one point awhile ago. Can I interest you in trying our new one ? And the same question can be asked to @BoredJason13 and @Cote12 ?
We have changed the AI behaviour quite a bit in the edits and I find the AI to be the best it ever was. I could challenge you guys to play by my own rules and we’ll see where we go from there 🤔 We are about to come out with our last version that we think is the best in the NHL series and if you wanna have premium access 😉 let me know 😀
- BoredJason132 years agoSeasoned Veteran@PernellKarl027 I’ve definitely found the way the sliders are now to find some enjoyment but last night I had more problems with the AI just constantly standing on each other and getting stuck. There are times I win a faceoff in the defensive zone, go for a breakout, only to have my center and/or wingers just NOT GO or skate back towards you. It’s really baffling. Im tired of recording videos to send to EA but I feel that it falls on deaf ears and will never be listened to

I strongly encourage any of you that want a simulation experience to give @PernellKarl027 's slider and player setup a try. His videos are a great looking experience if that is what you desire. @BoredJason13 @Cote12
- Cote122 years agoNew Vanguard@KlariskraysNHL The videos do seem great and I’m impressed with how much work was put into it! Unfortunately, it doesn’t help how clunky and neglected franchise mode has been for a while. Nor does it work for someone like me who wants to control an entire team, with period lengths less than 15 minutes.
I think what would be preferable would be if the massive multimillion dollar company would just make gameplay that more closely resembled the sport their game is supposed to simulate—especially when they charge almost a hundred dollars for it and then release it so bugged that there’s an immediate need for updates and patches.
I’ll keep messing with sliders. - 2 years ago

Thanks man for the nice shoutout, you are the man ! Where can I send you a tip 🤔😉😂
One of these days, even if it’s not your cup of tea, I’m gonna have to put up a challenge for you to try with our setup 😉
Lets say, keep either the Carolina Hurricanes or the Edmonton Oilers under 30 SOG and win the game, while playing locked on D with all my recommendations 😉😂 Not an easy task to say the least…

Just finished a game there myself and I failed on both accounts of my challenge 😂 Was playing left D for the Habs against the Bruins. That's what’s great, cause even when I lose a game in that setup, I always have a smile on my face cause how the game plays 😀
Bruins scored an empty netter with 8 seconds left… Caufield touched the post 10 seconds prior 😫
It was an AMAZING game all around, look at the SOG, TOA and Hits totals !
- Cote122 years agoNew Vanguard@PernellKarl027 Couldn’t hurt to give it a try! As much as I want to control my entire team and not player lock, I’m desperate over here for hockey simulation!

I remember trying your setup before and making videos easily exploiting the AI. I think there were "house rules" and things that I wasn't supposed to do, which is a deal breaker for me.
I'm not going to NOT make a play that is there because it is against the "house rules". We had house rules for glitch goals on Sega Genesis, we should be beyond that in 2023.
- 2 years agoHI (Human intelligence ) is still superior AI.
And I guess it need to be that way, how fun would it be If the AI swept the floor with us.
But maybe its not asking too much, to both have a smart AI that act as humanly possible and also find ways to get around the AI and win games.
I guess our expectations on AI gets higher the better it gets.
I can swear if you place AI side by side from the NHL 14, you would see a huge diffrent, but to follow it this close from year to year dosent make the progress as clear and impressive as if you look at it over time.
But ofc im not gonna bash down a thread like this, thoose videos from TS is a good example were the AI could develop their hockey sense to something better.- 2 years ago

Calculating the trajectory of something based on speed and direction is better done by computers than humans. This was the case for the way that bots aimed the rocket launcher in Quake or Unreal Tournament 25 years ago. They calculated where you were going, and shot the rocket there. I'm pretty sure on the highest difficulties they could be perfect with their aim.
Calculating where a player with the puck is skating and taking an appropriate angle at them to not let them get by you is the same thing. 25 years later, with far better technology. It is inexcusable that the NHL AI is not better at this. Same thing for CPU D-men judging gaps, they either back in and allow easy zone entries or get caught flat footed (doesn't help that it seems like everyone skates faster with the puck but that is a different issue).
If bots in FPS games from 25 years ago can aim Rocket Launchers perfectly, EA Sports can have CPU AI players take better angles now.

The setup has come a long way since the last time you tried 😀 Heck, we are still in the finishing touches of our last offering…
Let me know by PM if you wanna give it a go 😀
