But why is it so black and white? How does nobody see how ridiculous that is, and more importantly, how does nobody care or even want to correct it? 

Hey Barry,

I had similar issue creating a player. I named my player Hauskas Kumeliauskas. And after entering the last name, it said it was offensive.

I found it funny since you have play-by-play name in the game as Kumeliauskas so how can it be offensive?

It's become a game at this point.  There's no good reason to block that last name, or any other normal first or last name.

They do it to prevent people from making sneaky naughty names to get around their filter system.

And the more ridiculously strict the filter gets, the more people "play the game" and come up with new ones.

Before you know it "John Smith" will be offensive.

One example.. I saw a name last year "Big Black Clock"

Gave me a chuckle, thought it was funny and kinda clever. 

Try making that name this year, you can't.  Why?  Because they made the word "clock" offensive.

This silly game will continue until they just give up and give you a drop down list of pre-selected EA approved names.

I took a 3 day ban in 23 for “Stinkfingers McGillicutty” lol

Also funny thing I wanna add. Saw a guy playing WOC with last name "Mestishomo" which means Mestis gay. Mestis is second highest league in Finland.

IRL a player was ejected and suspended for one game using that slur this fall in Finnish League. 

But yeah, it's not filtered so it's okay to use in EA game.
