Player AI issues

Wow, the AI for the player’s team is pathetic, especially compared to the AI of the opposing team which plays way better than the AI on my team.  I just read a post from 2021 that describes exactly the issues I have and they still aren’t fixed.  I suggest stop releasing sports titles every year and please fix the issues for the current version.  You have the same running issues with every new year release and never seem to address the issues the players have.  Why not wait to release a new version every 2 years and fix issues during that extra year.  So the main issues concerning team mate AI is that they can’t play worth a crap compared to the AI on the CPU team.  They can’t hold on to the puck, they do a terrible job shooting, passing, and pretty much anything to do with playing on a team.  That’s even with the sliders set to help my team AI.  And speaking of sliders, they too easy to screw up game play with the confusing descriptions.  Please just make it so that if I move sliders to 100% it makes things better, not worse for the slider.  In other words human sliders at 100% are good for the human player & CPU sliders at 100% are good for the CPU.  There are far too many sliders that screw things for the human players when setting the human sliders.  Please fix the human player team AI!  Thanks

    Hi there, @jasonv65 

    The big difference between an all AI team and a human controlled team is the human. If you have 2 AI teams play each other, you'll see they play pretty much the same. Throw a human into the mix and it's quite possible they won't play as well. This is due to the skill of the human at the controls. AI players are very good about making quick passes and utilizing open lanes for shots/passes. Humans often skate out of position and force shots/passes through traffic.

  • That truly is a lazy response.  Sorry, I got to be honest.  The game is still in a terrible state and all you did was excuse all of the inexcusable issues.  I won’t be buying anymore versions of this game in the future if this is how you handle feedback on real game issues.

  • @EA_Aljo  - Wooooooow...there are real issues with the AI in this game that need to be addressed, and all that's said is essentially "well, human players suck?"

    As for some specific issues, here you go:

    • AI teammates skate right in the way of the human controlled player far too often, and typically they'll just sit there when that happens. It gives the opponent a great chance to come in and steal the puck, which happens way too often. I've lost games when I'm skating near the point, run into a teammate who just sits there, then the opponent steals the puck and scores on a breakaway. It can't be that hard to program something in that keeps even a minimal distance among teammates.
    • You're really telling me an NHL player is going to leave his stick extended when skating near his goal right after his goalie makes a save? The own goals in this game are ridiculous, though fortunately this one cuts both ways.
    • Not "AI" per se, but TAKE OUT THE KICKED GOAL REVIEWS!!! OR AT LEAST GIVE THE OPTION TO TURN OFF!!! It's pretty rare these are correct, and 9/10 times these affect the human player, not the AI (when playing single player modes).
    • AI teammates leave easily retrievable pucks for the opponent waaaaaay too much in favor of skating back to whatever his programmed "position" is to just sit in that position and do nothing. Puck possession is king in hockey, except for AI teammates in NHL 24. Can't be that hard to program something in to tell CPU teammates to retrieve a puck if they're the closest to it. It can be a bit difficult to cycle players quickly enough to get to the correct player in time to retrieve a loose puck.
    • When skating in towards the goal from the side at an angle, AI teammates that ostensibly should be defending have a maddening tendency to turn in to matadors and let the puck carrier skate right to the goal
