Shooter games yes you want best possible ping time. But a title like NHL is not that big of a deal. Unless we're talking about you on 50 ping while you're opponent is 10 ping.
I beat QC players all the time and I don't live in Montreal.

I beat QC players all the time and I don't live in Montreal.I disagree. With a fast game as hockey you want the best optimal input. Even a half second delay can make a difference to a poke check attempt, a shot on goal, attempting to cover the puck as a goalie etc…
I lived in Montréal for 5 years and had fibre cable and my ping was always around 10 or so. I’m now in Ontario and I usually get about 20-25 and there is a difference IMO.

Lmaooo... Half second delay would equal to 500ms. You play on 500ms connection? Do you realize the average response time of someone gaming is 250ms just to put things into perspective, pros around 120-150ms.
I guarantee you can't tell the difference between 20ms and 10ms.
There are Call of Duty top 250 ranked players that play on 60ms going up against players with under 7ms.
