Re: Discussion of “own goals”

The root cause might be the inability for defensive players to pick up loose pucks.

Similar to the intercepting problems, this could probably easily be fixed by tweaking the defensive awareness sliders, which are probably close to 0 right now. ..if they'd only care to make the game enjoyable.

@couture2fat2flyI think for some that would be true. Once I get the video of mine up not so much. For example, I had my player get bumped, the player took the punk and skated towards the goalie, I did not even pressure the player really and the moment they hit the goal line they went along the line and put it in on the corner.

I have over 20gb of NHL video to sift through - I'd rather not sift through all that for proof of stuff happening for over a decade (but I will; will probably take a few days)

@couture2fat2fly I agree, I think it's a combination of low defensive awareness, too high of incidental contact effectiveness, and low offensive awareness pickups.

Also, the AI D should never be skating toward their own goalie after they recover a puck, yet it happens frequently. Poor AI programming, as protecting the net and keeping the puck AWAY from it should be priority #1 for AI. If they recover the puck in their own crease, they should immediately chop it toward center ice or a corner, yet they constantly recover it and begin skating into the own goalie.

The own goals are insanely frequent this year.

@EA_Aljo I don't wanna sift through any more of my videos - this is all I can get at a glance.

Yes, I'm counting pointless penalties in 3v3 since they lead to guaranteed goals. Yes, I'm throwing in a few instances of the AI crashing the net for no reason even though it didn't lead to a goal (I've brought this up years ago and it was never fixed). Yup, some of the goals were by me -- This is to show how useless/ineffective our current defensive capabilities are.

There needs to be urgency from EVERYONE to keep the puck away from their net, whether that's all automatic or new manual controls
