Simply just taking the puck. Why is it so hard?

So in NHL 23 I realized that you could have another team holding the puck doing nothing away from the controller and simply just skating up and skating away with the puck seemed way more difficult than it should’ve been. It was almost as if the puck was “glued” to the opponents stick. 

In NHL 24 is this something they’re working on? I think too many times last year the puck should’ve been jarred loose or simply just taken
