Thank you to everyone who participated in the #NHL24 Community Playtest and sent along feedback.
We’re sorting through it all now but there are some certain changes we’d like to make official immediately:
#1 We’re adding Hybrid Controls as an additional option, alongside of Skill Stick and the new Total Control scheme.
#2 We’re adding the option to use the new Goalie Tether control scheme or the standard Goalie Control system (NHL 23).
These changes will be reflected in a post-launch NHL 24 update and are only some of the improvements we’re working towards based on your feedback. We’re excited to share our full plans in the coming weeks.

hybrid controls were one of the biggest glitch issues in last years game. My buddy literally handed his son who never played nhl in his life with hybrid. Told him to just skate across the face off the goalie and shoot. 15 straight times Whereas this can be done a little bit with skill sticks it is automatic with hybrid controls. I'm not sure if its just online in particular the goalies cant read the button press fast enough but it was broken

I very much doubt someone who has never played NHL in their life used hybrid controls to score 15 straight goals in an online game.

When will the hybrid controls become available ?
Could you also test and fix Goalie Career even a little bit while giving us option to disable the horrible tether system. It seems like it is now impossible to select correct goalie gear for your goalie except your helmet or at least I can't figure out how you could choose for example Maple Leafs Goalie Pads for my goalie...
You should really have at least one person in your development team who mainly plays BAP Goalie like many of us. He would have told that this gear issue and the awful tether system should be fixed before launch.
@Mikko_HaikalaAlso you can't anymore customise colors of pad or blocker or trapper and then tell that other gear should have a same colour scheme. Now we have to go and change all by hand and it is really time consuming and there is a now annoying and totally unnecessary sound effect every time you change colour.

Just wanted to ask if there is a more concrete date for the mentioned updates. Especially the hybrid controls as I cannot play with the current options.
I would like that update too. I have also heard matchmaking has taken a massive hit due to those "Delayed" settings updates.

Not at this time. The best we have for an ETA is by the end of October.
You know......I wish there was a forum in which the developers could chime in and answer questions their fans ask. Doesn't have to be all the time, but just do a daily or every other day pop in with a quick update and reasons on time frame being so late or anything in between.
This would make so much sense in terms of helping the game flourish. Also keep your player base from refunding the game when you fail to insert a key element to the game on day 1.

Hello everyone, I hope all is good.
I'm upset to know many of you are not able to enjoy the game do to the control lay out not being available to you, I completely understand your frustration. As someone who has been playing NHL since 91 this has always been my go to game . If I may ask a question to everyone. So since NHL 07 I have been playing with the skill stick and this year total control was introduced, I tried it out for a bit and did not enjoy using the buttons for the hitting as well as the dekes, so I went back to skill stick. I have never used NHL 94 or hybrid controls since the introduction of skill stick in 07, I am not familiar with the differences between them besides maybe the buttons being the pass and shoot mechanisms. Is hybrid extremely different from 94 controls? Does it use the right stick and the triggers on the top of the controls? I'm just very curious since I'm hoping hybrid controls that will be returning helps anyone and everyone with any kind of a disability or just enjoys those controls to enjoy NHL 24. If anyone with this knowledge can let me know.

Now folks, we should not blame @EA_Aljo for anything. As a "Manager" his job is to moderate these forums and provide whatever updates he can. I don't think any forum is directly linked to the developers of games, but rather to keep the community continuously talking and allowing him (or others) to generate a feedback to EA that hopefully will garner some quality of life changes moving forward.
I am upset that hybrid isn't in this game yet. It's the control scheme I will always use due to Arthritis in my hands. Yes I feel ripped off having spent money to sit and wait for an update, but ultimately I am happy they acknowledged us with having to put it back into the game.
I am an advocate for change. All we can do is continue to talk about why this game is failing you as a customer, and how they can change it moving forward. I like the new Dev team. They are very vocal with how they are moving forward with the series......hell, they even talked about GM Connected and their plans to bring it back in a new and refreshing way (not like in NHL 14 though). As long as they follow through on their plans & ideas, and return controller mappings back to the way they were, I am a happy camper!
Now that my common sense talk is done with...................................Where are my hybrid controls EA?!?!?!?!

Hybrid controls are coming at the end of the month I know... What about the NHL 94 control set-up?
