Why can't I do anyting?

Ok so I got NHL 24 for Xbox One yesterday.

I am playing Be a Player and I am completely unable to do anything because all passes bounce off of my player and I cannot pick up the puck .

I could be the only player in the vicinity and I skate in circles trying to get the puck and I do not come away with it

I am not a new player and  I think I have had maybe 4 or five shots on net through the minors and first 3 pre season games.

I am very close to returning it for a refund. No point in playing if I can't even get the puck.

I have tried everything including changing the difficulty to rookie and moving all the puck control sliders to 100 with no change.

Please help

    Hi there, @dgkgmgsg

It sounds like you're doing one touch passes. That happens when you hit RT/R2 when a pass is on the way to a player. Do you have another controller you can try?

  • I don't have a second controller.

The problem is not me making passes (the few times the game decide to actually let me possess the puck)

. It is receiving them. I will break to an open spot in the ice and any pass just bounces off of me.

And I am unable to get the puck- on more than one occasion I am  the only on around to get the puck and going for it just causes it to kick away from me or just doesn't move at all like I phased through it. .

The other team cleared the puck while I was on the power play. I went behind the net where it was was - started  up ice  and realized I did not have the puck somehow  so i doubled back to get and it just kicked off of me to the other team for a  goal

    It's ridiculous.

I wanted to post a video but apparently mov files are not supported

Dude, your settings are all wrong. Your understanding of the sliders is completely opposite of what you intended. Example

You have your deking impact in the 80s.. It says.. “The higher the value, the EASIER it will be to lose the puck when deking.

You have your Spin Deke impact super high as well. The description says. “The higher the value, the EASIER it wil be to lose the puck when deking

You have your skating impact high as well and the description says “The higher the value, the EASIER it will be to lose the puck when turning or pivoting.

All three values are over 88.. meaning you will lose the puck very easily.

You didn’t show your complete “passing” settings so I cant see what you have set for “puck speed, pickup type and bouncing puck receptions” But Im going to assume you also have these values set to high numbers? If you do. Please read the additional information and understand what a higher value will do. Just because its higher, doesn’t mean its better.. Example.

Puck speed reception effect slider says “how much the speed of a puck affects receiving a pass” If you have this up at 99/100, that means that if its a fast pass, you are going to have a hard time receiving the puck.

Also, you have “attribute effects” at 5/10. This affects players over all ratings. At 0/10 that means all players will play at the exact same skill and rating. Your 75 rookie will be just as good as a 99 rated player because it boosts lower rated players and lowers higher rated players will have an 0 ratings gap annd all ratings are the same. If you have 10/10 ratings that means the gap between a 99 and a 75 will be 24 points between them. I dont know the formula, but at 5/10 that means the gap is cut in half, so you will have only 12 points between a 99 and 75 rated player.

If you are a 4th liner and you have 60/100 as a CPU fatigue effect, that means that a 99 player will not tire out. If you move the slider to 99/100 then they will tire out faster.

Fatigue recovery is also high. The higher the number the faster the top line players will recover and if you are on a 3rd or 4th line, you wont see much playing time and you’ll see your first line play 40 min a game. If you lower fatigue recovery to 5/100 now all 4 lines will play with the top players getting 22min or so.

    Hope this helps

    @dgkgmgsg

Take a look at what @Javiair said about your sliders. Try that out and let me know if it helps or not.

  • I took a look at the sliders and they are all off as you sugggested.

I don't players with them much so I just assumed right was always positive and it's not; some makes things easier if you go right and the setting that affected picking up the puck was definitely the wrong way.

I will have to go one by one and make the right

Thank you for attribute affect feedback too. That is good to know.

    I really appreciate it.
