World of Chel population

I'm sure nobody in this forum would have ANY control over this but, world of chel REALLY needs to be free to play. The game does not have the kinda of population to sustain this gamemode for a full year. It's a week in and I can barely find a 6v6 drop in game. If WOC was free to play I think it could have a huge effect on growing the game and overall increasing sales to those who were never interested. At very least a free to play weekend could get some good attention

Part of the population issue is also that there are a very high amount of players in club games instead of drop-ins. That's going to reduce the available player pool for drop-in games. Plus, you can fill in on clubs as a free agent. This will further shrink the 6v6 drop-in population. My club hasn't had a problem finding games on Xbox One quickly, but I imagine if we all switch to drop-ins, that would be a different experience.

    Hi there, @HighTmatthew

Which console are you playing on? There is a lower population on Xbox One/PS4 than Xbox Series X/PS5.

@EA_Aljo I am on PS5 with crossplay turned on and always use relaxed game location. Search times are better than last year but still quite underwhelming for a new game to take as long as it does to find a full match. No matchmaking setting is going to fix the fact the servers are just underpopulated compared to other games. Hopefully EA dabbles in some free to play ideas to grow certain games like Chel. It sorely needs it

@EA_Aljo Yeah the problem is greatly improved this year with clubs I have noticed. Played PS4 version last year with my friends and it took probably 3 or 4x longer to find games than currently on next gen.

I think the devs have done nearly all they can with the matchmaking to make it fast as possible(maybe menu speeds/load times could be increased in future), at this point its on EA higher ups to get more people actually playing the game by making the WOC free to play separate from full NHL game. That would be a huge undertaking but I think thats the future if we wanna grow the game.

My friends and I have been dealing with low population in 3v3. It’s been rough because every game we get matched up with is against players whose ranks are WAY beyond ours.

A few of us have played for years and haven’t seen it this bad. At times we’d have unfair games rank wise here or there but it wasn’t anything terrible. This year it’s been horrible though. It’s frustrating because some guys are new to the mode and enjoy the concept but I doubt they’ll stick around much longer.

In past years it felt much more balanced. I don’t mind losing as long as the games are somewhat decent but how it’s going it’s not even worth us playing at the moment. I feel like the low population has caused the issue. Every time we play we get “Low” population which never was an issue in past years this early.

It’s worrisome to see it so low when the game just released. Is there a setting I’m missing to help with this issue? Last season we competed in D1 start to finish. This year we can’t play a game in D9 without getting our doors blown off by a team that has played 24/7 since the game came out. I hope this gets resolved because we love playing WOC but at a certain point it just becomes pointless.
