Early Access Feedback Thread

Would like to hear everyone's first impressions so far.


I've only been on for like 5 minutes but have noticed some stuff worth mentioning.

Main menu - It doesn't necessarily hurt the game but I feel having a second "enter mode" box underneath everything is an aesthetically odd choice. Removing that in a future patch would look slightly better.

Loading - Cmooooooon like jeez, you ditched last gen, we should be able to load into stuff a lot faster than this :(

Edit Player (Chel) - I have a new LG C3 (has the fancy stuff like VRR and G-Sync or whatever) with the right cables and connections and am on game mode but there is still so much stutter/blur when the player is whipping his head around when selecting faces. It's been like this for years now and while technically not a game breaker, it does show a lack of polish (or rather, it brings certain problems further into the spotlight). 
Holy cow just stand still!
I'd like the ability to compare at least a few faces to each other instead of long-swapping between em.

ALLOW ME TO IMPORT PREVIOUS YEAR'S CHARACTER DATA ALREADY!!!! (Same goes for custom teams).

Holy lol, did the whole budget go into new gen hair? I got a pretty sick Shrek Prince Charming thing going here...

Another zero effort trophy list; still retains the greatness trophy for breaking Gretzky's record which is beyond painful/boring for anyone who doesn't live for offline BaP.

Remove the "Reset Player Class" popup - Yeah duh all my stats will reset when changing classes and stuff - Please give us the option to at least toggle never having to see it after the first time.

Same bone-headed AI as before; honestly don't see any difference, especially on faceoffs

  • I appreciate the game overall being slower and speed boosts being removed, but run and gun is still very much alive. A small player with max. speed is most viable because defensive tools are still not reliable enough (especially accuracy and strength of pokecheck, with 91 attribute and Stick em Up they should properly disconnect the puck from an attacker). Let's give them an upgrade just like you already did with Stick Lift, which can finally be used again - yay!

    Love the timed 1T mechanic because it adds variety to the game.

    I feel like human goalies should feel more consistent. In some games they are absolute gods, in others all crap shots just slip through.

    I'm not exactly sure what the necessity is to take one's post, segment it, and then proceed to break it down with your opiniated response. 

    My opinion isn't up for discussion, regardless of the platform. 

    Bottom line, and respectfully, this is the last time that I'll engage with you, as I'm not at all interested in anything that you post. 

    End of story.

    No way that's what they made Pasta look like this year... that looks NOTHING like him. How did that happen? Pasta's kinda weird looking IRL... whoever that is is a beefcake.

    Nah, man. I have 69% faceoffs in online versus and it still absolutely bothers me.

    Uh... you realize you posted YOUR opinion to a public discussion board, don't you? 

    What's the point in coming here to post your opinions if you don't want people to respond to them? Respectfully, I think you're a bit confused regarding the purpose and intended use of this forum.

    Thanks for that! What a great post. 

    Someone in the comments of that Reddit post brought up the (correct) observation that skaters in the EA NHL games don't use crossovers nearly as much as they would naturally in real life. I wonder why that is. You can notice it when looking at the side-by-side footage of the in-game Makar and IRL Makar. 

    It's not the MOST  important thing in the world but it would be cool to get ultra-realistic-looking crossovers eventually. 

  • I forgot to mention this but, for the first time in a long time, BOTH poke-check AND stick-lift are effective and give results that match your expectations most of the time. 

    At least this is the case in online versus. 

  • Which attribute affects how long your player lays on the ice after getting hit?  It seems my players stay down longer than the CPU.  Also, after the CPU is checked to the ice, they shouldn't be able to jump back up so quickly and still retrieve the puck.  Is there some sort of "recovery from being hit" attribute?

    As far as presentation, it's pretty sad when the 'Three's' mode has more presentation intro than an actual NHL game.

    Any word when a patch will fix the settings defaulting back before a game?
