Literally all they needed to do was take away that stupid magnet/vacuum effect that makes the hitting so much easier. Take that away and hitting becomes hard and skillful again. It's really that simple. Instead the devs, or studio director or whoever, decided to come up with this complicated wind up system... what a mess. Typical EA, you ask them the time and they want to build you a watch.
Truculence adds some hit assistance. Otherwise, there's no magnet or vacuum effect. I'm a little confused about your statement though. You want hitting to require skill, but the new system is too hard for you? Winding up for hits is more realistic than just running into someone. It also takes more skill. So, how was the old system of hitting more skill based than the current one?
