Late Hits: No Penalty

To be as fair as possible, I wouldn't want a penalty being called on this specific hit. And I am saying this as a forward who doesn't hit much, but absorbs a ton. Yes puck possession has changed but really its only a second later and in online games with input and response delay, I'd much rather this be called "finishing your check".
That being said, interference penalties have not been called as strictly this year in my experience. I've seen much later hits (or instances where my teammate never had the puck, it was on the opposite side of the ice) let go with no penalty.
The input response delay is a good point, especially as it relates to players that use skill stick or total control. I think the hitting players were using total control and weren’t able to cancel their hit on the play.
I’ll try and share more clips of late hits and maybe there can be a happy medium.
