Honestly, teams don’t back check and clog the neutral zone enough. If you have 3 forwards fully pressing on offense the defense is going to have a bad time against any competent team. It should be this way. Defenders shouldn’t be making unrealistic crazy reaction interceptions all the time against odd mans etc. The best defense in this game is to stack your blue line and make teams chip the puck in. Most of them won’t do it and will just turn the puck over all day. This years game is way more about team play, space, and puck movement. Outside of the arcade hitting it plays way more like hockey than a lot of the prior iterations.

I agree about the neutral zone stuff and stacking blue line and back checking. but you have to admit there is issues with intercepting in this game. people could still score in previous years of NHL when intercepting actually worked. Its just not fun to play defense in NHL25 if there is not any kind of consistency when intercepting pucks. meanwhile hitting is very nerfed, covering people that LT speeed glitch is very annoying, and poke checking with gold stick em up often doesnt poke the puck in the correct direction, or the poke check barely even moves the puck anywhere and the puck carrier can just easily get it back immediately.
