Newest Patch (coachs) and Active Roster

I've come to see, unfortunately, that you must download the newest roster in order to have access to coaches in all game modes. EA, custom rosters take HOURS and HOURS; Can you please fix that? It's a great addition but I just don't want to sacrifice all my work for new heads behind the benches. It's a shame. 

Any recommendations? The only thing I've not tried is merging my custom roster with the newest one, but if I relate to my past experiences, EA's roster will just overtake my customizations apart from created players/teams.
