The way they had it last year was perfect, no reason to change anything but for some reason they did. Makes ZERO sense at all!

I've pretty much stopped playing the game because of things like this. The gameplay issues themselves are annoying, but having to wait around for 30 minutes to an hour for a decent lobby? That's absurd.
Here's a little advice, EA. In my time playing this franchise, I've learned that this is generally how 6s EASHL lobbies are judged.
Full lobby = Optimal. So long as the ping is decent, everyone's good to go.
Both teams missing a player or two = Not perfect, but it's fine. Most players will play this lobby, no problem.
Full lobby of skaters, but no goalies = Most players don't want to play against AI goalies, but it's fine since both teams have AI goalies. Playable.
One team missing a goalie = Nope. Immediate back out for most players. Playing against an AI goalie is one thing, but having a human goalie on your team is such a disadvantage that most players will just leave.
One or both teams missing a center = Absolutely not, especially if only one team has a human center. Playing against an AI center is a virtual guaranteed faceoff win for any decent center. This leads to one team winning every faceoff and the other team starting every play behind the 8-ball. No center is an instant quit.

Is anything being done about this? They talked all about better communication with the community last year. This year they make a GIGANTIC change to matchmaking and mum has been the word.
What the heck is going on over there??

We're aware of the feedback. Unfortunately, I don't have any new details. We'll have to wait and see if changes are made in the future.

Is it too late to request a refund? This wasnt announced before the game was released. This is the only mode i am interested in and it’s unplayable.
How do you make such a large change to matchmaking and not even talk about it? And when people complain, the answer is to “wait to see if anything changes”. I get none of this is your fault, it just feels like the devs sit around and do nothing all day except find ways to make this game more annoying. Further pushing my belief that they are intentionally trying to kill this game.

We don't have anything to communicate at this time. We'll have to wait and see if changes are made.

We are not trying to intentionally kill this game. That really makes no sense whatsoever. Changes are made with the intent to improve the game. Obviously, that doesn't always work out.

What a joke... Ive owned almost every game since '94, and kudos to EA. I love this gameplay and they've done some great things but this matchmaking is insane. If it can't be fixed please move to a games as a service model and stop charging full price for a game that half works.

As someone who strictly plays EASHL, it's very unfortunate to hear this isn't being worked on. The game has been out 30 days since Early Release began, we've had issues with match G not originally in the game, high ping games those were for both fixed. Now for at least 3 weeks it's extremely long wait times between lobby glitches and not being able to match up with opponent's in prime time playing hours. Like for example last night began searching 6's at 9pm eastern, didn't find a game for 20 mins. Then the next one took 15 mins to find. Played NHL for 1hr 40mins just to play 2 games. This needs to be addressed or the game population will move on to other things.
