Re-Connect Feature

It's not that it's not possible. A reconnect feature could be abused. People shouldn't be able to leave/join a game whenever they want. Just like a real game.

Huh? It's not the option to leave a game and come back, it's coming back after you've been disconnected by the servers. No one is choosing to get kicked from games and be at a blatant disadvantage. 

Someone could choose to leave the game for a bit by disconnecting their internet. I just don't see this being legitimately used 100% of the time. 

If that's your guys excuse every time then might as well stop developing anything new as it will be abused.

We're aware of the requests to have this. It's just not something we can simply add and we have to consider how it could be exploited. Which is something we have to think about with most any feature.

I'm also not saying this is the reason it's not happening. It's very possible this would cause a stability issue and desynch the game. 

When would there be an advantage to having a cpu in your place? Not looking to argue that there isn't a time but I can't think of one. I'm sure you guys have had more discussions so maybe I'm just not considering something.

Desync I could see, but it seems like after a stoppage or a timeout or after a period or something it could be done.

I've started lots of games where someone gets kicked. Or a teammate gets online after we've already started a game and has to wait for us to finish. Seems like it would be a nice addition but not at the top of my list of needed improvements. 

I wouldn't have an issue with someone rejoining. However, adding someone later in the game could be exploited. You go into a match with a set lineup. Just like in real hockey, you shouldn't be able add someone mid-game that's not on that game's roster. This would especially make a difference when it comes to club finals.

I think it would be great if someone could reconnect. The thing with that is we can't tell if they purposely disconnected or not. What if someone had to take off for a bit to handle something else? I get that emergencies come up, but you shouldn't be able to leave the game and return whenever you want. What if a team is down and all the humans but one leave so that AI can take over? 4 AI players can be pretty challenging for some to play against. It really wouldn't be fair if you let them get you back in the game and then everyone rejoins. This is something that would most likely be exploited.

So in most games when you DC but can reconnect you are just standing still in place(Apex Legends as an example).  So if you have a human player just not playing it could cause problems.  Now if you were to want a player to magically go to the bench and a CPU comes out then I'd worry about them reconnecting getting their right player build used and of course the stat tracking.  Anyone remember how long it took them to fix pulling a human goalie erasing the goalie stats when they became a skater?  It took quite awhile.  But let's be honest in Drop-Ins people would troll using this causing an even bigger balance issue.  Especially if the goalie wants to do it.

rsandersr47​ If someone were to just get online and we had space early in a game then we'd just back out.  A record/ratings means so very little.  It should be able gaming with friends and trying to have a good time.  There isn't any real reward to being a top team/player

Yeah, I feel it. It just sucks to do that haha! I guess there are ways it can be exploited. I don't see any of those as a huge issue though. I think the advantages outweigh the exploits but it's w/e to me. Imo if it's easy to add.. I'd throw it in drop in and see how that goes. See what can be exploited see if it ruins games or w/e then discuss whether or not to bring it to club.

These are things that can easily be figured out. Most games based on dedicated servers have this ability already, so why it's suddenly a concern just for NHL is strange.

Obviously, this kind of system would only be used in EASHL - but I'm really tired of 'trolls' being used as excuses for why things can't be added to improve the quality of life in this game.

If EA would be a little more heavy-handed in handing out bans for violating the terms of service, then we wouldn't have to be endlessly concerned about 'trolls' , allowing them to dictate whether or not we can have awesome features.

Allow only 1 re-join, and the player must reconnect before the end of the current period. 

If you get disco'd near the end of the period, you either hurry back or tough **bleep**. 

Setting an example by way of permanent bans for being a troll would disincentivize a lot of the poor behaviour we see in EASHL today and might free us from the shackles of being scared of what the trolls will do.
