The gameplay changes significantly decreased my motivation to play NHL 25

Before this patch 1.2.0, the game felt so much better. You couldn't just clog up the middle of the ice or chase non-stop without any regard for defensive zone positioning. One-timers were such a great way to punish poor defensive zone play. It rewarded higher shot volume instead of the offensive zone ragging that's plagued the game for years. Since the patch, I'm still winning games, but my enjoyment level has plummeted which has resulted in me playing significantly less. Games that should be blowouts are coming down to a single goal. High level play has slowed to a crawl with endless puck ragging. I'm having way too many where I'm outshooting opponents 40-10, and it's still a close game on the scoreboard (Yes it happens sometimes irl. That doesn't mean it's okay to happen frequently in the videogame).

1Ts needed a nerf, but the way y'all nerfed it was not the way to go about it. The biggest issue was goalies sliding too far on D2D 1Ts. Every other 1T was in a good spot balance wise. The nerf y'all did ruined that. Now D2D 1Ts are in a good spot, but every other 1T is nearly pointless. Setting up a 1T on a 1-3-1 was the most realistic and satisfying things to do. Now they get saved almost every time. It's so bad.

How about you get rid of that stupid bullseye maybe it will cut down on the ballerinas who just wait for that stupid bullseye to go green,  the AI already puts his stick letting you know he's waiting for a pass

D2D one timers are still overpowered and require zero skill. They need to make glow up window shorter and a higher error for miss times to require some skill.

Let's be honest, you shouldn't have 40 shots in a game of NHL unless you skate in and just shoot for the sake of it. The only reason why you may be winning is because of how bad goalies are with saving any shot from any bad angle.

If you want a fix for the puck raggers, which I agree with you it's bad, you have to bring back hitting. If hitting actually worked we could easily take the body away from the puck for holding on to it for too long...like real hockey. They made this game like basketball where you can ISO the puck with one guy.

It's to the point where everyone in div 2 and up and champs just put collapse with protect net and block shots, that is sadly the defending META. It's unbelievably boring. We can't hit because it's a miss and we can't poke because of LT speed boost spammers that bait tripping penalties so the only solution is to sit back and block the shot.

On offense this year I've scored more goals with shots from the side of the net impossible angle than I have in the slot with a green time, apparently that's when the goalie can make a save. Go figure that one out lol.

  • I still think the unscreened one-timers from the point go in too often but I DEFINITELY agree with you about the 1-3-1 one-timers. I wish they'd go in more.

I love d2ds also but in 25 it takes 0 skill to hit d2ds ,what skill is there when a bullseye lights up to tell you when to pass the puck and even worse you don't even have to aim your shot ,the EA devs naming this skillful is laughable, in past games you actually had to time it right and aim it correctly

  • Sounds like you can't figure out a way to score besides spamming D2D one timers.
