Try deleting the personal saved data for NHL 25. To do that, please follow these steps. There is the risk of losing offline saves and changes to settings you've made. Normally, those download from the cloud, but I can't guarantee this.
- Press the Guide button and then highlight the NHL 25 tile
- Hit the Menu button. It's the small one to the right of the Guide button with 3 horizontal lines on it
- Go to Manage game and add-ons > Saved data. Delete the file with your gamertag on it

It sounds like you're switching between skill stick and hybrid. I have not heard from anyone else with this issue. You mention using an Xbox Pro controller. Do you mean the Xbox Elite? If so, are you hitting the button that changes profiles maybe? That's the small one right in the middle under the Menu and View buttons.

3/4 control profiles of mine are stock so that shouldn’t be the issue. Yeah I meant the elite controller.

If you’re unable to assist me further, please direct me to someone who can. It’s frustrating that EA’s support seems inadequate—rather than providing solutions, one is left without responses. This needs to be resolved.

Can you try using a non-Elite Series controller? It would be good to rule out issues with it. This is still the only report of this I'm seeing so most likely, it has to do with your controller.

Yeah I have tried that. My friend who bought the game after preorder, has the regular hybrid controls. So I think if you preordered the game, there is a glitch where your controls are messed up. Davve48 says similar

It was hard to show the issues live especially when changing players but that’s the best I could do

Does it work if you try using a regular controller? Also, have you tried creating a custom profile and enabling it on the controller? You could try changing one mapping and switch to that profile by hitting the button in the middle. Switch the light to the profile you created.

Like I mentioned earlier, it doesn’t matter the controller, regular or elite, the controls are just not working. I’ve tried switching profiles and what not but it just doesn’t work. From what I’ve heard, the people who bought the game after preorder, have no issues with the controls. It must be a problem with the game or somehow if it downloaded corruptly on my Xbox. There is little left I can do. I asked for a refund on the game so I could repurchase it, maybe getting rid of the glitch, but Xbox denied it.

We would be getting a lot more reports of this if it were only limited to those that didn't pre-order. Seeing as how there are only a couple of reports, that points to a local issue rather than a problem with the game.
I don't think this is a corrupted download. If that were the case though, you could download again to correct it.
Have you tried playing on a different gamertag? It would be good to see if this persists under a different account. - 10 months ago

My son is having this same issue. We did not pre-order the game, have tried plugging in the controller, and other troubleshooting listed here and still not resolved. Have you figured out how to resolve the issue yet?
