I'd really like a follow up on this. We all know it's a copy paste of NHL 25 then it's tweaking time. Someone, on purpose, chose to remove the feature and I want an explanation. That was an cool way to add an extra mask to your team.

EA has a contract with the NHLPA to use player pics, team equipment, etc and anything pertaining to the NHL. However. Goalie masks come under a different scenario. Although a goalie through the NHLPA agreement with EA, gives the right to use it. Transferring it, now involves one other individual(s). The masks designer. An agreement would have to be made seperately as to whether the designer relinquishes rights to allow it to be used, or transfer their design to another player. Its one of the reasons why certain goalie masks are not accurate. No right to copy. Its all about contractual agreements and of course $.

I just saw your post on the custom goalie mask and your knowledge of NHLPA agreement is astonishing!
But why could we use them that way in NHL25 and not in NHL26? What was made in 25 that was not in 26? Why the mask created for NHL25 are gone forever? Isn't EA the owner as the collab was made for the game? I think it's a waste since you can't reuse them in Franchise mode. If the said goalie gets traded by the CPU, it's gone from the game in NHL26.
Also, if the item is to be unlocked in Woc or whatever online mode, why can't I use them on another goalie in my franchise?

You can check out on line. Any agreement EA has with the NHLPA. Including goalie masks. One thing to remember. A designed mask for any NHL player, comes under copy rights and ownership of said mask. The designer being party to the agreement. EAs agreement with the NHLPA, is one of the weaker contracts involving sports leagues. Maybe why we see this here today, gone tomorrow dilemna.

Ok

If we could only have some transparency from EA on this matter. Without an explanation, it feels like a blatant removal without double thinking and a waste of the nice arr created for the game.
Thanks for your knowledge on this, it's pretty interesting tho it is also frustrating.

Dont give up on your idea. Barring all aspects of any or all agreements with tbe NHLPA and NHL. Im sure EA could create its own mask design engine. Entirely free of name brand. And it could be monitored by EA, like it is here in the forum. Designs would have to be vetted before being allowed to use. Keep pushing bud. You just might be able to get them to come on board with your wish.
