Deep-Dive Glaring Issues
About 10 years ago, the boys and I would say, how have they never fixed this? — Remember when they hired a physicist to figure out how a puck bounces? — After taking a few years off from EA, I'm really diving deep into each game to see what's changed, and if it's worth the money.
However, this deep dive is barely deep; here are the glaring issues that are simple and obvious that, after at least a decade and billions of dollars, they will still make excuses for.
Don't feel bad for anyone, they deserve it.
- "80+ new save animations" - they show you a goalie gloving a puck mid-air behind his back
- "If a puck changes direction or a rebound lands in front, they no longer have to finish the original save before reacting." - NHL2K solved this issue in like 2008
- "Goalie positioning is now tied to player size and style." - Again, how insane it is that this was just now considered.
- Vision control has been around for 17 years, it's still being abused
- Hip checks still overly affective, about 15 years later
- "Larger players now have a clear advantage when absorbing contact and redirecting force through a reverse hit" - Should I reiterate how basic this is?
Did anything from the deep dive give me hope? I guess personalized player positioning is nice, but everything is still written in the style it always has been. I don't know if that's because they have PR people rewrite the notes, or because it's just a broken company.
'Last year this was broken but it's totally not this year! Hey hears a spinning glove save and a mouthguard hanging out of someone's mouth!'
