-A meaningful path through the AHL

Progression to the NHL should take multiple seasons, with development, performance, and readiness determining advancement — not a rushed or scripted jump.

2. Role-Based Evaluation Instead of Point Chasing

If I choose to create a stay-at-home defenseman, my value should not be judged by goals and assists.

Defensive roles should be evaluated on:

-Shot blocking

-Stick checks and takeaways

-Physical play and positioning

-Penalty killing effectiveness

A shutdown defenseman should gain coach trust by preventing goals, not lose it for low point totals.
