Because EA's priorities are completely backwards. The presentation in an NHL game is non-existent. You get a quick "here we are at so and so arena" then face-off. It's ridiculous full presentation was ignored again. It's something the community has been asking for the past couple years. It's not like they didn't have presentation in this game previously. They'll put it back in a few years from now and call it a new feature.
I feel like it's a very big issue that the series never truly progresses. NHL 14 was a really good game, and then they took out almost everything for NHL 15 on the new consoles. It feels like a lot of recent features have been just to get back to where NHL 14 was in the first place. For example, the new Be A Pro in NHL 21 (or maybe 22 not sure) just brings back those old text-based conversations from 14's Live The Life. Then you look at a game like NBA 2K and their career mode and see how much more they have to offer.
