EA_Aljo I'm not sure how a video will give you any additional information above and beyond what the image shows in the original message that I sent in this thread? However, just to recap, I initially got to that screen after I had played game 1 of the Stanley cup finals and chose "Sim To Next Game" to play game 2. The "salary perk screen" (not sure if that is the official name) showed up. I had only $8 under funds available (which should be a red flag right away) and $1,535,000 under funds spent which is considered "over budget" and hence does not allow me to continue past that screen. Even if I turn off every single perk that I'm able to turn off (those are the ones that are in the "renews in 30 days" category because ones that are a higher number of days than 30 can't be turned off -- yet), I can only manage to get the funds spent to about $97,000 which is still considered "over budget" and hence there is no way possible for me to continue past that screen. Even if I close the game, go to BAP, click on continue, when I once again chose "Sim To Next Game", I'm brought to the same salary perk screen and have the same issue -- I can't bypass this screen.
I understand that this bug may not be easy to reproduce, but putting my software developer hat on I have a couple of things to say and/or suggest as follows:
One thing I'm wondering about (and it may not be related whatsoever) is whether this issue might only happen during the BAP playoffs? Perhaps it has something to do with the idea that players do not receive increases in funds during the playoffs?
Besides being able to correct the issue so that it never happens again, can I suggest a "check in code" for the time being to evaluate whether a user is in this particular predicament and if so to allow them to somehow get passed this screen? The details would be as follows:
Before presenting the screen, take the sum of all the costs of all the perks that are currently active AND are able to be deactivated (you aren't actually deactivating anything here, you are simply doing a mathematical calculation), subtract that sum from the value in "funds spent" which will return a result and then check if that result is greater than the value in "funds available". If that last check returns a TRUE then you know the user in question is stuck on this screen. Once you have determined that a user is stuck on this screen, perhaps a re-calculation can take place to attempt to "correct" the value in funds available? If the current "funds available" value that is erroneous is simply coming from a record in a database table and you have stored history for those values then you might be able to correct it based on a previous correct value. If that is not possible then increase the "funds available" value to be high enough so that the user can at the very least bypass the screen -- even if you don't give them any extra to spend on new perks. Not being able to advance past that screen is far worse than anything else so I personally would be happy with this compromise so to speak.
That being said, I'd be more than happy to help out with this issue in any way. If someone (developer?) at EA wants to contact me then that would be perfectly fine. I have decades of experience in software development, testing, etc. I can send in my contact details if you send me a private message requesting them.
Please advise. Thank you.
