NHL 27 Wishlist (Presentation focused)
For NHL 27, my prediction is that it will get a major overhaul in presentation and the different aspects regarding presentation throughout the game.
Predictions:
Massive Presentation Upgrade
Fans have been begging for:
- real TV-style intros
- playoff atmosphere
- intermission panels
- tunnel walkouts
- warmups
- Winter Classic presentation
- crowd improvements
- more arena personality
My prediction:
NHL 27 becomes the “broadcast presentation” year.
I could see:
- ESPN/Sportsnet-inspired overlays
- dynamic camera packages
- playoff intros unique to each team
- crowd chants becoming team-specific
- glass reflections, fog, towels, rally effects
- realistic goal horn acoustics
- outdoor game cinematics
The presentation side is where NHL has the most untapped magic right now. The gameplay has improved over the years, but the atmosphere still sometimes feels like:
“Two teams quietly participating in a highly organized public skating session.”
Meanwhile real NHL broadcasts feel thunderous, theatrical, and occasionally one step away from a space launch.
I genuinely think EA knows this too. Sports games are shifting toward:
- immersion
- TV authenticity
- emotional moments
- crowd energy
- cinematic pacing
Stuff I could totally see in NHL 27:
Dynamic Opening Intros
Not just:
logo spins → random montage → faceoff
I mean:
- Vegas knight intro recreated
- Toronto playoff towel crowd
- Edmonton orange-out
- Montréal anthem atmosphere
- Rangers MSG lighting
- arena-specific camera angles
Every rink should feel like its own kingdom. Right now many arenas feel like “Generic Ice Building #14.”
Broadcast Packages
This feels SO overdue.
Imagine:
- Sportsnet package in Canada
- ESPN/TNT-style US package
- regional commentary vibes
- playoff-specific graphics
- panel discussions before big games
Even fake broadcast branding would massively help immersion.
The dream:
Stanley Cup Final presentation that feels genuinely gigantic.
Playoff Atmosphere
This is where NHL 27 could become legendary.
Imagine:
- towel animations
- louder crowd as OT progresses
- pressure camera shake late in games
- dynamic chants
- fans standing in final minutes
- glass banging after goals
- player-specific chants
And especially:
Momentum atmosphere
If the home team scores twice quickly, the arena should feel electrically unstable. Like the building itself is vibrating.
Intermission Content
Tiny feature. Huge immersion gain.
Stuff like:
- “Around the League” score updates
- panel breakdowns
- replay packages
- crowd shots
- player tunnel cams
- goalie stat comparisons
Right now games can feel oddly disconnected from the rest of the NHL universe.
Cinematic Moments
I could easily picture:
- playoff handshake line cinematics
- Cup lift closeups
- outdoor game snow buildup
- goalie staring into camera before puck drop
- captains leading teams down tunnels
The NHL already looks cinematic in real life. EA just needs to stop treating presentation like garnish and start treating it like the entrée.
The broadcast-style realism mixed with dramatic arena atmosphere is what fans remember most from classic NHL games.
Celebrations Predictions
The current celebration system has been recycled for so long that some animations feel like they’ve achieved veteran leadership status in the locker room.
And the worst part?
Real NHL celebrations today are WAY more emotional and cinematic than what the games show.
The Stanley Cup Celebration NEEDS a Full Rebuild
This should honestly be one of NHL 27’s headline features.
Right now the Cup win scene feels oddly robotic considering it’s supposed to be:
the single greatest moment in hockey.
Imagine if NHL 27 added:
Multiple Cup Celebration Variations depending on:
- captain personality
- team identity
- dynasty status
- underdog run
- home vs away win
- rivalry context
Examples:
- players immediately mobbing goalie
- emotional collapse to the ice
- gloves thrown skyward
- captain screaming before lift
- veteran crying on bench
- rookies losing their minds
Every Cup win should feel different.
Playoff OT Celebrations Could Be Incredible
This is SUCH a missed opportunity right now.
Real playoff OT goals are absolute chaos:
- sticks flying
- bench explosions
- crowd going crazy
- goalie sprinting down the ice
- players climbing glass (NCAA)
In NHL 27:
this should become CINEMATIC.
Imagine:
- slow-motion replay angles
- dynamic crowd audio spike
- commentators losing composure
- camera shake
- gloves raining onto ice
- teammates launching themselves at the goal scorer
The game should barely contain the energy.
Team-Specific Celebrations
This is another huge one.
Different teams celebrate differently in real life.
Examples:
- Vegas theatrical energy
- Boston aggressive playoff series winning pileup
- Edmonton huge goalie swarms
- Carolina storm surge possibilities
- Toronto “please let this finally be the year” emotional overload
Tiny differences create massive immersion.
5-Man Celebration System
This could genuinely become one of the coolest revamps.
Imagine:
- contextual celebrations based on goal type
- one-timer celebrations
- dirty rebound scramble reactions
- lacrosse goal disbelief
- goalie hug variants
- rivalry taunts
- playoff intensity versions
And ESPECIALLY:
bench reactions
Right now benches sometimes react like:
“yes. hockey event acknowledged.”
Meanwhile real NHL benches look like someone launched fireworks into a zoo enclosure (i know this is a weird analogy but it’s valid😅)
Postgame Celebrations Need Personality
This could completely transform Franchise and Be A Pro immersion.
Imagine:
- goalie gets mobbed after shutout
- rookie gets championship belt/player of game
- fans staying for 3-star salute
- three stars presentation
- milestone pucks
- playoff handshakes with emotion
- captain saluting crowd after elimination survival
The current system skips through emotional moments way too quickly.
Dynamic Emotion System
This is one of my dream features.
Celebrations should scale based on:
- regular season vs playoffs
- rivalry game
- Game 7
- OT
- elimination game
- comeback victory
- Cup-clinching moment
A random Tuesday overtime winner in November should NOT look identical to:
Game 7 double OT of the Stanley Cup Final.
That’s where sports games become unforgettable.
And honestly?
If EA combined:
- presentation overhaul
- crowd overhaul
- celebration overhaul
- broadcast overhaul
…NHL 27 could suddenly feel generations newer even if the gameplay changes are relatively modest.
The biggest thing NHL 27 NEEDS (in my personal opinion): a complete celebration overhaul.
- New Stanley Cup celebrations
- Multiple Cup-winning animations
- Real playoff OT chaos
- Team-specific celebrations
- Better 5-man celebrations
- Dynamic bench reactions
- Emotional postgame moments
- Context-based crowd energy
A Game 7 OT winner should feel COMPLETELY different from a random regular season goal.
If EA truly upgrades presentation in NHL 27, imagine:
- Vegas-style intros
- Dynamic camera angles
- Louder playoff crowds in OT
- Towel animations & glass banging
- Intermission panels/highlights
- Tunnel walkouts
- Goalie spotlight cinematics
- Authentic Stanley Cup Final atmosphere
If EA nails even some of these, NHL 27 could genuinely become the best entry since:
- NHL 14
or
- NHL 09
TLDR:
My predictions for EA Sports NHL 27:
- Massive presentation overhaul
- New broadcast package & overlays
- Arena-specific intros/atmosphere
- Winter Classic & outdoor games return
- Expanded Be A Pro immersion
- New celebration system
- More realistic crowds, chants & playoff energy
If we get even some of these changes/revamps, NHL 27 feels like it could finally become the “immersion year” for the franchise.
