NHL come on

Man, I’ve been playing NHL for years — like, since the old PS2 days — and NHL 26 is honestly the worst gameplay year I’ve ever seen. The LT is way too powerful. Everyone’s just skating in circles like little fairies, dangling around with no penalty for spamming it. It completely kills the flow of the game.

Poke checks? Brutal. You time it perfectly, poke the puck clean, and somehow it still ends up right back on the opponent’s stick nine times out of ten. There’s no reward for good defensive play anymore — just frustration.

And don’t even get me started on the hip checks. They’re still overpowered as hell. You barely touch someone and they go flying like they got hit by a truck, even when your player’s half the size.

This game desperately needs a tuner update. Something to balance the LT spam, tone down hip checks, and make poke checks actually worth using again. EA, please....

  • There is enough of a transition into the hip check and they nerfed the ability for smaller players to hit larger ones so they are in a comparably better state to other issues. LT will never be fixed: they've tried multiple times throughout the years and just can't get it right.

Poke checks themselves are fine but the speed penalty when failing is outrageous. We've needed a complete overhaul to the engine for close to a decade now lol. They've ditched last gen (which should have been given it's own update in it's lifecycle btw), for essentially nothing so far and we're already approaching mid-new gen

Hey there. Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to give you some more details on your issues.

Yes. We would all love to see this addressed and changes have been made to make it easier to knock these players off the puck. The thing with LT/L2 is that it's a crucial part of pivoting. We have to be very careful about the changes we make to it because they will also be felt when using it normally. So, this would have a very negative impact on transitioning to backskating and anything vision control related.

I know you're all tired of hearing this. Poke checks are being investigated. I wish I had more I could share, but we'll have to wait for news to come on this. I personally wouldn't call them brutal, but they could use a boost. Using the Stick em up XF has helped a lot for myself.

I feel like hipchecks are in a much better place than they were with 25. They were heavily exploited then. If you have any video showing this being abused, feel free to post it.

Again, thanks for the feedback. It's very much appreciated.
