Pass button issues

in the middle of an online game, my pass button and change player button (RT on Xbox) randomly stops working. I’ve tried different controllers, ensuring my controller and game had the latest updates, Etc. but it continues to happen. This has cost me multiple matches, please fix this seemingly simple bug.  

Yet another year of disappointment.
