RP in WOC makes no sense.

To be completely honest, it sounds a bit odd that three Elite players (which means they must have reached at least 30,000 RP at some point) dropped so far that your Gold 3 team (~21,000 RP at the time of the game) was actually rated higher when you played them — theoretically possible, but unusual. The key point is this: it does not matter whether you win 22 zip or 7–6 in triple overtime. A win is a win and a loss is a loss. The only thing that matters for RP calculation is the current RP value at the time of the match, not the highest color tier someone once achieved — Bronze, Silver, Gold, Blue, Purple, or Flame (Elite). Playing good, scoring points or getting some other nice stats don't mean anything!

Trust me, there are other factors at play - Current and old CM have said as much.

I don't see why we need to constantly reset rank/badges once playoffs are done though - this only really benefits those who play the game more. My buddy and I would always be top 50 in 3v3 but have played considerably less over the last few years - Skill is the same but when you qualify as a silver or gold it's actually quite a lengthy process to have the system visibly match what you really are; I believe this is why we see so many mismatched games out there with Elites or Diamonds getting matched with even Bronze (especially if you're playing with drop ins). I'd be pretty mad as a 30k+ RP player losing 1,000 to a fake gold rank who is really at equal skill; the game created it's own smurfing problem for no reason haha.

I've been awarded more points for beating teams with less overall RP after back to back games -- Playing better and absolutely trouncing teams SHOULD give you more points. Yes, the game is buggy and bad so actual "skill" is highly subjective, bit it's still technically a competitive game and the ranking system should reflect it better in my opinion.
