We need bans and suspensions

Devs and mods, If you ever wonder why the community is so toxic, its because the game fosters it, and pushes normal hockey fans away. 

I've never seen a video game where you can genuinely be this bad of a person, every SINGLE game and be unscathed. You can yell slurs, score own goals, take penalties all day long. You are collecting bottom of the barrel people. Please do something, it cannot be that difficult, every other game seems to have it. 

I brought this up multiple times with them and was either given the "thanks for the feedback; we'll look into it" spiel, or was outright ignored. The higher ups don't seem to care and I'm starting to wonder if the devs are even able to fix the system

Respecting players' time: Every participant is entitled to complete their match, no matter how poorly they may be performing.

 Every player deserves to finish their game, regardless of how bad they are playing.

What kind of response do you expect when you're bringing something up that they clearly have already heard a hundred times that this is an issue?

EA isn't going to restrict access to their game for players who don't play the game the way everyone wants them to. A reporting system would be abused. For example, someone may be a clearly dominant player on a team but because the D-man didn't get passes he thought he should, he'd report that player. Or a goalie who is left to deal with breakaway after breakaway or odd man rushes, and the team reports him for 'poor team play' because they don't understand the role they play in those goals being scored.

If you don't like the cesspool that is Drop-Ins, then either make a club and invite people to join or back out of matchmaking in Drop-Ins until you are picked up by a club as a free agent. 

I'm with all of you that Drop-Ins are a completely miserable time due to human nature but expecting EA to resolve that through punishment is short sighted. 

They really need to offer bonus XP or rewards specific to team play to encourage more cooperation. Flat out banning people just encourages even more crappy behaviour.

If someone is communicating in a poor manner, EA is not responsible. You need to report them via your console's reporting feature.

Fifa, NBA, Madden - they all suffer the same fate in multiplayer modes. A section of players who understand it's a videogame and trying to get the most out of it, and another section of players who insist they're the 'normal' fans of the sport who are constantly victim to players 'not playing right'. 

The solution is to form teams and join communities devoted to your style of play. Random Drop-Ins should be treated as a way to test out builds and practice your skills at the game versus trying to gain XP and win games.

People who are PURPOSELY RUINING OTHER PEOPLES MATCHES SHOULD GET BANNED.

LMAO what are you talking about man "short sighted", you genuinely cannot be a real human. Short sighted is telling everyone to ignore the problem and play another mode. This is what every game does that has an even okay community. You PUNISH the people who ruin it for everyone. This is just common knowledge but for some reason you're acting like an EA shill. 

I do play with my team and the game is much more enjoyable, unlike you though, I actually want to improve the experience so that people who dont have that option can also enjoy the game and are not forced into 1 game mode they can only play when friends are online.

3 out of 4 of those other games you mentioned with horrible communities and NO PUNISHMENTS are also EA games. Hmmm, I'm noticing a pattern!

I'm not acting like a victim because someone on my team is playing bad, one of my best friends, whom I play with EVERYDAY on a team, might aswell have feet for hands, he's terrible and I do not care.

I am frustrated that people can go in and make it there only goal to ruin and waste the time of possibly 9 other players And FACE NO POSSIBLE PUNISHMENT OR REMOVAL FROM THE GAME. It's just a funny coincidence every game with any sort of respectful, healthy community has some form of moderation and penalties, yeah, definitely no correlations there man, you're totally right, I'm just being short sighted. I'll just pretend this doesnt exist and go back to playing with my club, good talk.

You're not comprehending. I didn't once say that you said that. But stop and think about what banning people means, and how if you leave it in the hands of some community reporting feature, that some people whose skills may be contributing to a team loss might result in the people on that team reporting that player for 'poor team play'.

Agreed but some people may perceive a player still learning the controls as someone who is "purposely ruining other people's matches". There's so much defensiveness among this community and it would come as no surprise a lot of people would have knee-**bleep** reactions to a player causing a single offside, consecutive icings or god forbid a puck bounce off of them into their own net. Many of the sweaty elites on this game have ZERO patience for people learning how to play and your crash out in this thread proves that.

I did not say that. I said in regard to communication, that's a console issue. You need to report that to your console manufacturer.  When it comes to people scoring on their own team, goalies skating around acting like clowns and teammates who monopolize the gameplay - it's up to you to find communities and clubs that play the way you want. Expecting astute gameplay from anonymous drop-ins games is incredibly short sighted and naive. EA would need to implement restrictions on the freedom of gameplay in order to force people to play "properly". I think EA has resigned to the fact that most people who play this game actually understand the nature of a drop-in game and how it's a crapshoot when it comes to teammate skill and opponent skill. It's all random. Drop-Ins are awful but I honestly think it has more to do with the nature of the people in this community than it does the game itself.

Sure I'll name a few, Rainbow 6 Siege has completely changed the community with the way its reputation system has effected the game. Players with frequent reports get lower reputation and based on what they have done they will either be removed from matchmaking, get less XP and rewards for games they do play, get a pre-emptive communication ban and are unable to use their mic unless unmuted by other players. Players with better reputation get more rewards and XP. This is such a simple solution that without a doubt would instantly be a step in the right direction. Siege was night and day before and after this change. Also the reputation based matchmaking for casual play so the bad apples all play together is perfect and could totally work in WOC

Overwatch is another game with some good anti toxicity tools, several different report options and a button to "avoid as teammate" on a handful of players. Would definitely be useful in WOC for just the absolute worst griefers.

Oh another game you mentioned, NBA2K, has the teammate grade in the park and rec, and if you get it low enough by doing bad enough, you get kicked from the game. Crazy isn't it. That ones not even trying to protect new players like I am willing to compromise with you and do and NOBODY complains about it. They just boot those noobs.

There, I am giving you real, genuine solutions to the problems at hand not something so Short sighted as "go play clubs"

Dude what are you talking about? There's no correlation in the things you just said lmfao. I'm crashing out because you're making awful points, telling me I am short sighted for wanting to fix a problem and your big solution is "dont play that mode". How do you think the ban system would work? If you report a new player who is bad, there would need to be a system that can tell the difference between that and seperate it from someone getting penalties on cool down, attempting to score on there own goalie continously, go offside every single play on purpose, or a goalie purposely coming out of their net every single play. Again, so many of these games have no issue identifying obvious griefers from new bad players, NHL should be no different. Its obvious when someone is genuinely throwing on purpose. Thats all I want, even just the obvious ones. Guys who make it their whole goal to ruin the match. Any automatic system would be able to detect that in 2 seconds and solve most of the issue.

These seem like very easy systems to implement, infact, in pervious yesrs I know for a FACT they were IN THE GAME ALREADY for several months until eventually EA turned them completely off because they implemented incorrectly into club matches and people were getting 3 penalties and being removed from their own games. That sounds like an easy fix though.

 I do not want new players to be punished, I want them to actually find games where people are motivated to help them, teach them and stick it out instead of deciding to throw the match because they have a new player and might aswell ruin it for everyone anyway.

Lmfao thats how you kill a game then, cause I promise you alot of players are not gonna go on their little club finder apps and try to wrangle there very own 5 stack on discord and reddit. 

It is on the GAME DEVELOPERS to foster an environment that punishes people for being toxic and ruining the game for others, rewards people for playing positively and makes everyone want to PLAY THEIR VIDEO GAME.

You know what happens when they don't help make an environment where games are enjoyable on their own without needing to be a literal SCOUT for teammates like you are suggesting? People leave, and they make less money. 

There are far too many of these players, but it is difficult to accurately determine who is ruining the game intentionally. As a result, innocent players might receive bans unfairly. Developing a system that targets only the actual griefers is challenging, and a flawed system could ultimately lead to a decline in the player base.
