Take out Broken Glass

I don't really see a need for RNG to stop the play of game in online modes, it's a frustrating feature that extends the length of the game. It can be made into an off/on feature in offline modes for people that like it.

This is something people asked for when they took it out a decade ago. It made no sense to put it back now as the glass doesn't shatter anymore. They just used it as a way to say they're "listening and addressing feedback". The amount of times I destroy someone in my own end on the boards and the game then hands them a free O-zone faceoff.

It’s a great feature, but it would likely occur only rarely and usually after a significant impact. Implementation in game is wrong.

  • They love ruining the competitive integrity of the game by adding as much RNG as possible. Broken sticks, broken glass, RNG penalty calls.

See the thing about a video game, is that, the refs DONT HAVE TO MISS CALLS, and can actually be perfect everytime. I'd like to discuss why someone at EA disagrees with that.

All those RNG things happen IRL, watch the live hockey games. However, broken glass is extremely, extremely rare, and it was added to the game, because users requested that. Implementation in game is, of course, wrong and it happens too often.

There is room for debate about what shouldn't be in competitive modes like EASHL or HUT.  Its trying to get the right balance on a spectrum where one side is pure E-sport competition and the other is full NHL authenticity.  Everyone is going to have their own opinion on how to strike that balance so its a tough needle to thread for EA.

That said, I agree with your opinion.  Personally I don't mind a small amount of RNG in EASHL, but the way its currently implemented via glass breaking is off.  We have the glass break on us at least once every 5 games or so.  For something that happens so rare in reality and in-game can shut down play, that's just too much.  Much rather it be something we see in a blue moon.
