My form score is always pretty good. I think that a lot of it probably has to do with an imbalance in expectation of what new players are capable of.
I find it pretty appropriately challenging to play and score on Superstar when you're a 65 overall. That said, Superstar says it's for "expert players" and I have to imagine the average casual player isn't starting there. If you're playing on Pro or All-Star, it's almost too easy to meet those criteria. I imagine on Pro I could come out of the Memorial Cup with 15-20 goals. Maybe some people are good enough to do that on Superstar. I'm not.
Now you consider that they're programming BAP to be an attempt at realism. It's likely not prepared for you to come out and play 1st line in the NHL as soon as preseason ends. Seems likely that they EXPECT you to fail some objectives and get demoted, spend time in the AHL, etc. Of course it seems silly to send a 60 goal scorer down to the AHL, but I think they tune it for the average casual player to have a rookie sim experience.

The biggest problem is that you HAVE to go to the AHL league, it doesn't matter what happens behind the controller or how good a player you are, the game is programmed so that you go to the lower league or play the 4th chain forever. This makes people angry that your own actions don't really matter when everything is predetermined or the computer decides, like in a movie where you sometimes get to press a button... Such childishness does not belong in a simulation and especially not in sports.
