Only way i found to turn it off is go into your EA app while in the lobby hit R2 or RT (whichever controller you use) to bring up your party chat and turn party chat off, it shuts it off for the entire game :) otherwise you have to mute each person during an intermission to make it stop also. I agree it is the most annoying thing in the game by far tho :/
