World Of Chel Stadium upgrades

Is there something special you need to do to get stadium upgrades such as the glow sticks for fans, the on ice pregame spotlights, etc? I have a club with a couple buddies of mine, we played over 60 games in club finals, won 2 elite cup banners, got to division 3 playing quite a few games, yet we got horrible/useless drops from the bags. Are there like challenges you need to complete to get the actual cool stadium drops/upgrades? Can we just buy them somewhere?

I'm really hoping the answer is not "keep opening and bags and pray" because that will be one way to just continue to kill an already struggling player base

  • They haven't bothered to tweak how bags work because it incentivizes users to play more games. With how builds work this year, I wouldn't be all the surprised to see arena/team customization packs you can buy with real money hit the market in '27

I mean if thats true, its completely absurd thinking on their part. If anything, its making me (someone who hasn't played NHL in 15 years) not only want to stop playing, but also not buy next years.

Like what a slap in the face, me and my club played over 60 games in club finals, finished top 500, 2 championships, and we legit got doo doo for our drops. Why would we want to continue playing at this point?

Do you know if you get better drops when you get to division 1 or after you prestige the club? Thats the only thing I can think of at this point. Really hoping they tweak the drops, there has to be some sort of reward for the clubs that are playing a lot of games and do decent in club finals

My teams have never been relegated, we've beaten the top 10, and topped leaderboards throughout the years and I can confirm that regular bags (bronze/silver/gold/ONES/Threes) are random. (Specialty/marked bags like Olympics, the Army, gear collabs will obviously have specific stuff)

I believe arenas are unique in that they unlock in sequential order at set team levels and this can go far into Prestige(s) - This can be good or bad depending on how hard you lean into authenticity but it definitely sucks for teams like mine who have a very specific look/style and are forced to play in horrendously garbage arenas for a huge period of time (funny thing is, they even reduced the number of awful Junior stadiums like the 4-plex since it was causing nothing but problems but there is still so much more to go).

60 games is a ton to current players since the game is so bad but yeah, in the grand scheme of things that's just a drop in the bucket for a competitive game so it'll take a bit for your team to get something nice to look at. Player unlocks have much more randomness to em though so at least your own create a player can potentially look nice early - Just be careful: your entire team might get reset back to black and white default anyway (sometimes permanently too!) and they don't know how to fix it.

Edit - Ah, i read that as 60 games total but whatever, the point still stands: the current unlock system just isn't fun. My team actually didn't even make it to 60 total games before quitting this year lol; you missed out on NHL '14 and I liked I think 20 or something, but not much else in those 15 blessed years off - they've just made me more and more bitter thinking back to what we had before

Appreciate the insight brotha and yeah, to clarify, we played 60+ games in Club finals alone. Prior to club finals, I think our record was a modest like 55-25 with a couple OT Ls or something. So 60+ club final games, 2 banners, to go along with 80+ normal club games, and I wanna say our club level is like 47 or something non prestige. Idk man, for 3 people all in their mid 20s with careers, we can only play so much. All these games were played from roughly end of January to now, so roughly 150 games in a month and half span. Compared to grinders that aint nothing but I would say thats quite a lot compared to the average amount for most clubs played in that time.

Just extremely disheartening that we essentially have no chance of getting any decent stadium drip. What a way to really encourage casual players to not want to keep playing. I get there needs to be some sort of exclusivity to certain drops but man, 150+ games played (total with club finals), won elite club finals twice (very aware this is something impressive feat compared to the top teams but still), in div 1 and we dont have a single piece of actual cool stadium drip???

Last thing I'll say is, complete anecdote, we ran into a team of 3 silvers who had both the glow sticks for fans, on ice light spotlights, + some sort of galaxy pregrame light show thing......... we were up like 5-0 in the first period and they raged. So it truly seems like those sort of drops are completely random which is just absurd

All games have minor issues here and there but with NHL they've just compounded and snowballed over the course of a decade into something almost eldritch. I used to be part of the hero program/mod team and can certainly say the higher ups just don't care - I don't know how many times I was ignored (after actually providing constructive feedback) before I was forced to "raise my voice" a bit and here we are now.

I don't see systems getting any better until at least a new gen version.

Well, ranks mean absolutely nothing now because of how they reset after each playoffs - Told them years ago it would lead to artificial "smurfing" and was just ignored. Playerbase is so low and nothing makes any sense right now so even a single loss could set a really good team who doesn't play often back to silver and gold; glowsticks might have a slight bit of randomness as drops (I think they sort of follow the same suit as arenas themselves), but i'm guess you played a team with a ton of players or they came into bad luck during their 10 game evaluation.

Not knocking any of your feats - I too believe players should be rewarded for their effort, not just time. I loved receiving a banner each month and forcing the other team to watch (and hopefully capping it off with a win) and wish they'd bring it back.
