What does a Lag switch look like on video?

I just played a game, and I think the guy was lagging  switching me or manipulating the game because on multiple occasions as he’s approaching the offensive zone, the game freezes, and then jumps forward on multiple occasions….. once OK, but on multiple occasions, the exact same pause and speed up during the exact same sequence multiple times
