match my room size

Is this feature ever coming back for WoC or are we still doomed to wait 1:45m for a game? I understand it helps find a game quicker but we don’t need the option to allow a drop-in skater or goalie in a club dressing room. I can guarantee 3/4 of teams on this game do not use that feature when playing 3s or 6s. Match my room size is an infinity better option to have then allowing drop-ins.

It is not coming back and you can see there lame response at around the 42:30 mark in the YouTube video I have linked that was from the Q&A with the dev team.

I agree. It’s pretty annoying to have to keep backing out of 6s games because the other team is trying to play with 2 players…. Just fix it already.

Thanks for pointing this out. Their explanation was genuinely confusing: "We're trying to strike a balance while analyzing the data."

If the issue is that adding "Match Club Size" is alienating some teams from the matchmaking pool, why not force teams with fewer than five humans to fill their roster by greying out the option to disable "Look for teammates" until they have a full lineup? World of Chel is constantly ruined by AI players. It's a mode that's at its best when every player is human-controlled.

As for alienation from the matchmaking pool, I think EA overlooked how generally unenthused much of the community already is about engaging with a mode where the perception is that an opponent can have an edge simply because their team spent real money on XP boosts. But there must be some internal analytics (likely from HUT) showing there's more profit in selling perceived advantages than in investing time into building community cohesion and support.

Rather than spending time "analyzing the data," why not put the work into letting players join mid-session games that have open spots? EA's response to ideas like this is always something along the lines of, "Well, we'd need to figure out how to handle stat-tracking and potential abuse if we implemented that."

    Okay… so do that, then.

There's always a list of reasons why certain quality-of-life features can't be added (booting troublesome teammates, match club size, etc.), but when it came to letting players pay for XP boosts at the start of the season, the community's list of reasons why that was a bad idea fell on deaf ears.

Which makes precisely zero sense...they've had now two full releases of Match Club Size missing with people asking for it back.

AI in WoC is laughable at best, I agree.   They constantly abandon their position, never seem to hustle, and CONSTANTLY make the wrong play.

EA's been tonedeaf to that stuff for a while though- you and I have been around long enough to know that(I'm using my backup until I can log in from my "trusted device" on my regular account)

And rarely do any of them make any sense whatsoever.

    As always.

Before EA could even consider this they'd need to make at least two changes.   Drop-ins should not be able to pull the goalie and clubs would need a way to kick drop-in players from the game.  It's far too easy for a single player to ruin the game for everybody to force drop-ins on everyone.   Frankly, these changes should be made anyway.  I think it would encourage more teams to user the "look for teammates" option.

I'd love to see some actual metrics from EA in regards to how long it takes to find a game now as compared to when matching club size was an option.  I suspect there hasn't been a significant reduction in search times.   And to be clear I mean time to find a game, not time to be matched up with another team.   Being matched up against another club and that not resulting in a game because one side or the other backs out ( for whatever reason )  isn't getting players into a game any quicker.
