NHL 27 Feedback

For years, I’ve bought NHL games with the hope of seeing the franchise evolve and improve. This year, for the first time in a long time, I’m going to pass.

I’m going to be honest and transparent: you give the impression that you no longer take your own franchise seriously.

I don’t even know where to start. You put a huge emphasis on promoting a new crowd system, but realistically, it adds absolutely nothing meaningful to the game. A few new animations, most of which are pretty mediocre, and a crowd that honestly looks disappointing. It’s 2026, and the result still feels like a game that is several years behind the competition.

The player celebrations on the ice are probably one of the best examples. They look like robots trying to dance. These animations are supposed to make the experience more immersive, but they actually have the complete opposite effect.

Some goal songs aren’t even the correct ones. How is it possible to get something as basic as that wrong in a franchise that has existed for this many years?

And then there’s your big marketing promise that every arena would have an introduction faithful to its city. What a disappointment. You marketed something unique and authentic, but in reality, it’s practically the same thing every single game. Once again, another marketing promise that doesn’t match what players actually get.

And I won’t even get started on Connected Franchise Mode.

The most frustrating part isn’t even that the game has problems. It’s that it feels like you’re investing your energy into superficial features instead of focusing on what players have actually been asking for for years.

Stop trying to sell us “new features” just so you can claim that the game has something new. Listen to your community, improve the existing game modes, and rebuild this franchise on solid foundations.

Because right now, NHL feels much more like a franchise trying to justify another yearly release than a game genuinely trying to provide players with a better experience.

This year, my wallet has a simple answer for you: no.

  • The crowd looks soo bad, on ps5 pro, in 2026 and they look like lego characters. How could they not even polish scoring animations and leave them choppy and buggy asf for a game release? The be a pro face presets are completely brutal. I feel like it’s a downgrade graphically from last year tbh.

I noticed the animations too, very first match had a couple goal celebrations where the goal scorer is just sliding on the ice without any leg or arm movements until they sort of glitch into the celebration animation. It’s early access though so maybe this will be fixed.

I have now the 10 hour trial. Even the roster is bad. Missing again massive player pics especialy in the CHL and European leagues. Many of them have a silhouette, much have only a blank player card and without silhouette or photo. Think it is a bug and this players should have pics? They quantity of the prospects is bad cause many are playing in the NCAA. To create these players without adding a pic not acceptable for me any more. I thought EA was searching for a solution this year, they talked about but failed. Not much equipment added. In general a very dissapointed game. If there will not come a big update for this cases, I personaly see no sense to buy.

  • Big scam. Marketed as faithful, unique, and authentic can't even license all the goal songs. I’ve been waiting years for the Oilers' goal  song, and they certainly don’t disappoint this year either.😤Fluxland by Xl when??...

  • I get some of the frustration, especially with presentation being such a big focus this year. I do think the gameplay itself feels better from what I’ve played though. Hopefully things like animations, arena details and Connected Franchise continue getting worked on instead of staying as they are now.
