NHL 27 Generic Faces

HiEA_Aljo  … I’d really appreciate it if you could answer this.

When you underperform with face scans every year, you would think you’d maybe take the players you give generic faces to seriously? Or do you just throw them in completely at random?

I completely understand that you can’t check every single player, and I absolutely don’t expect you to. But when someone points out a change at an early stage, both on the forums and through the playtest form, you would hope that it gets addressed. But nope.

I asked you to CHANGE THE SKIN TONE, NOT THE FACE. CHANGE THE SKIN TONE ON THE FINISHED MODEL that was used for Quentin Musty, because it was a good face. That face, with a lighter skin tone, actually matches several players.

So my question is,EA_Aljo : Is it too difficult for your dev team? Are there not enough resources? Is there not enough knowledge? Or do you simply not care?

Because honestly, it’s really starting to look like that...

This should be a quick fix, right? Yet somehow it still can’t be done. You would think that when people take the time to search for improvements and give you specific feedback, you would actually take the opportunity to implement it and fix things. Even if it’s a small thing, it’s a big deal to many people.

You deserve credit for listening to us when we said we wanted new generic faces. A lot of them look great, and many of them actually match real players and make those players usable. I appreciate that, great job!

But it becomes even more frustrating when the people on your team responsible for this don’t pay attention. You have literally created an identical face to Trevor Connelly, yet you’re using a completely different one?

And there are several faces that fit actual players — not some 55 OVR Liiga player, but high-end prospects and young talents.

I noticed all of this, and it took me 20 minutes to put together four players who could be made usable.

These players (except Maddox — I haven’t found anything confirming that he has been scanned) are documented as having been scanned, yet you refuse to add them.

And as I said, with your new presentation system where you highlight players up close during the game, it’s even more important that they actually look like themselves. Just something to think about, maybe? 🥲

So please, forward this to the appropriate people, change their appearances according to the details below, and the game will be better. It really is that simple. And honestly, I don’t think it would take more than 15 minutes for you to fix this for the next patch. You have no Idea what it would mean to be able to Draft and play with Maddox in Franchise Mode, with maximun realism possible :) .

Thank you.

I changed the skin tone on the finished model in the bottom example. Try to use that as a template if you can — that’s what I meant :).

And if you simply don’t have the knowledge or resources to do it, or you just don’t care enough to listen to this feedback, then don’t change the skin tone. Just put the generic face on the players and leave the skin tone incorrect. It’s not ideal, but it’s still better than what it is now.

I have to agree with this. I don't understand why there needs to be so many exact faces, when it comes to both look and skin color. It's an unusual approach to character creation overall in games.

You can edit the skating style down to all sort of details, and I don't think anyone ever does. With that detailed feature, you'd think it was highly requested or would be used more, but no, the last time I checked, ~5 players had any kind of uniqueness to their skating, the rest are the default style. The skating could have been simplified into styles in the same way the shot styles work. Choose between ~20 different ones, that should be enough for most people to bother. But the detailed skating attributes...

And same thing with these faces. Finding the one you're looking for in that mess is not very efficient. "Might be this? No... maybe this? No... but perhaps... no! Or maybe this... no, too pale." 😌 And then you have 20 more players to create...

  • EA_Aljo Im begging you, please pass this along : Make it possible to change skincolor in creation zone for genericfaces. You have made great faces that match players not in the game, but the skincolor is not matching, it shouldnt be that hard to make it. Please im begging you. It would make a new life in creation zone.
