Please Fix You’re Game!

I hope who ever is reading this has some sway on actually helping this game.

I love the NHL games I’ve bought every game since NHL 08. This game has a lot of potential but some easy fixes need to happen.

  1. the time of interference is way to short. Someone has the puck and you’re going in for a hit and they get rid of the puck but you finish your check and hit them not even a full second after they get rid of the puck and it’s a penalty.
  2. The goalies in WOC hold on to the puck way too much. In HUT the goalies and refs wait to blow the wishlist just a bit longer, so we have the chance to call for the puck from the goalie. You need to make that the same in WOC 3v3.
  3. Again the interference is horrible, you hold up on the right stick and your guy will barely hit the other player it doesn’t knock him over or anything, you can see your guy kind of pushing but it doesn’t actually affect the player. This doesn’t happen all the time but when I am in front of the net and hold up on the right stick for a cross crease goal attempt it hit the other player (doesn’t affect him at all) and I get a penalty from it. That would never be a penalty in the NHL
  4. Some game I get good bounce but often I am on the receiving even of the bad bounce. I make a perfect defensive play and the pucks still ends up on the opponents stick more often than not. Also the goalies rebound control is horrible. Someone will shoot a weak wrist shot from the blue line and the goalies rebound will go to the perfect spot for his teammate to score, (like right on his tape) It’s very frustrating.

I appreciate anyone who reads this, this is coming from a place of love. If someone important ends up seeing this and can make real changes that would be amazing.

p.s. I would be more than happy to take a job working on the NHL franchise to make this game better and more of what the fans want because who would know better than a fan himself. #EAHireCam

Thanks,

Cam

Hiperay. Dude it’s not that serious, I’m simply expressing what I would like to see improved upon, in hopes that someone who actually has a voice on the development side (not you) sees this and want to help.

If you read the comments on NHL 27 videos, there are a lot of people who agree that the interference window is way too short. I’m not trying to injure the player — I’m trying to create a turnover. There should be a little more leeway before every bit of contact results in a penalty.

As for #2, it’s a video game, and it’s annoying when the goalie holds onto everything. Players want to keep playing uninterrupted. I understand that this wouldn’t necessarily happen in real life, but this is 3v3 in a video game. Giving us a little extra time to call for the puck before the goalie freezes it would make games quicker and allow for longer, uninterrupted plays, which is part of what makes the mode fun.

#3 — I actually didn’t know about the L2 option, so you have me on that one.

#4 is more about goalie rebound control. Some of the rebounds goalies give up are ridiculous and make it feel like ice tilt at times. I’d rather see rebounds feel more consistent and less random.

  • 1. What you did in previous games was not finishing your check, it was intending to injure a player without the puck because it was fun.. You were able to hit anyone when they had already gotten rid of the puck and passed it off. You did it and it would cause the skater to lose their energy entirely and for what? Making the right hockey play in passing the puck off to a teammate? The hit window has always been a joke and they tried to make it more skill based by lowering that window, but people did not like it. Either way, that change was toned down a little bit so it was a little more balanced on both sides, not completely back to older games but a little shorter and yet here you are saying you still can't "finish your checks" aka intending to injure the person without the puck. Learn to actually back down from a hit instead of continuing to take 2-3 strides just to kill someone who doesn't have the puck.

    2. Goalies typically don't throw the puck out in real life so why should they even try to for WOC? That being said, I wouldn't mind it being longer but this is a CPU goalie thing and I don't play much that isn't full lineup games.

    3. In order to avoid shoving someone accidentally, all you have to do is hold L2/LT and you can freely push up on the stick. If you start to spam it however, it will override so you have to release and repress the button to allow you to continue trying without shoves. It's supposed to be so you can't just continually spam up on the stick for a one timer which should actually be a timed properly move. It is already a lopsided thing for forwards to be able to do this while a defender has so much more to do just to try and keep it from happening. It promotes attempting to force the puck across the crease and hoping it goes through which is not good for the game IMO.

    4. This is something that I also agree with to some extent, that being said it is also more likely the pucks will go back to the opposition off of rebounds as the defenders are much closer to the net and have less reaction time to get to the puck after it changes its direction.
