I cant really do video right now but im holding left all the eay left exacttly left. Not a little up not a little down syraight left. When i do it he does an animation as if you did jump too early only hell doit it 2 or 3 times of i continue to hold before puck is dropped. It is almost as if i was holding the analog stick down and jumping the drop but i am not im golding it perfectly left with 3 different controllers dual shock 4...
I am not even getting chance to take draw and puul the analog stick down because he does the animation as soon as i push analog left. But only left right is fine with left or right handers

As @thedamn412 suggested, put it up on YouTube. That will greatly help me understand what is happening. Thank you.

I'm having this same exact issue, I even go into the xbox accessories check my stick position and every time I put to the left it is under the 9 0'clock horizon but every time I try it says I'm to early this is driving me insane help please

If it says you're too early, it means you're trying to win the face-off before the puck is dropped. Try waiting a little longer and if you're using the right counter and your player's face-off ability is high enough, chances are good you'll win.

This is not what the problem is I've played hut for 2 hours a day on average for the last three years, after the first 20 games I go early on face-offs 1/100 times and I know when I do it, what he is saying and this the same with me is that after a game update last summer 2020 all of the sudden every time regardless of right-handed or left-handed centerman when we went the left hand lower quarter of the right stick for a face-off, NHL 20 and now 21 miss-registers where we are placing the right stick to say we moving over the horizon (9 o'clock on a watch dial) immediately even though we are moving the right stick from the center neutral position to around 7-8 clock, just like we are supposed too but it immediately says too soon and our centerman is attempting over and over again to win the faceoff even though we have the stick below the 9 o'clock horizon. But when I go the right hand side no problem, so I have to use left handed centers because the right hand best option in the current version of hut is not an option to us. I thought I was just was slipping at first so I brought up the xbox accessories app where you can see where on the circle around the right hand stick you hitting and checked 100 out of 100 times Im hitting the correct spot never going over the horizon. I've tried switching cameras and the camera relative/always up options and nothing works. I switched to going down and no problem on any faceoffs its just going up stick placement to the left

I have had the same problem and it's driving me insane, will you please fix this asap. Here is a video of the problem I even put a fill light on the controller so you can see placement as well as show you on the xbox accessories app showing my consistent placement of the right stick below the 9' o'clock position

We're not getting other reports of this. Can you try a different controller and let me know if it still happens?
Yes I have tried numerous controllers both wireless stock ones 🏈 1 wired one and the xbox elite one
- 5 years ago
also here is another person with the same problem that your team asked for a video which he never uploaded but I just did so you can see

I understand there are 2 of you with this issue, but there are also hundreds of thousands of people playing this game that we're not hearing from. I haven't been able to reproduce this issue. Something you mentioned and show in your video is that you're holding the stick to 7 or 8:00. You should be holding it to 9:00 or 3:00 for the opposite side.
I have no problem on the 3 o'clock or the right side of the circle, on the left hand I'm holding it 7/8 to show I below the 9 o'clock line which I understood anything over, so 9:01 to 12 that and your going to prompt stick lift counter and also be early, I'm doing what should be the direct opposite starting at 8 and sliding the stick down to 6 when the ref drops the puck, is this incorrect

I posted it on the hut reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/NHLHUT/comments/jhdyod/help_can_not_take_faceoffs_to_the_left_side_of/
more and more people are having the same problem, now could you please fix it

Try starting at 9:00 and let me know what happens. When I start at 8, it does exactly what your video shows. I have always started at 9:00 and never had any problems.

Just tried that about 10 times thats not it, also when I do faceoffs with the right side of the circle I dont place it exactly at 3 more like 3:30 which is where Im placing it on the video, I noticed this started after an update can you see if the gameplay team tweeked something? Also when I switch to going downwards I have zero problems

Have you checked to make sure your controller has the latest firmware update?
We'll keep an eye out for others having this issue. At this time we're not aware of any problems. I've played a few games today myself and they've been working fine, but I'll definitely watch for it.

I have had this same issue with 3 different controllers. I bought a new controller thinking there was an issue with the other two since they were older, and still had issues with the new one. NHL 20 and 21 have also been the only games I am having controller issues with. The new one worked "okay" for a week before I was having the issue consistently on every faceoff like I was before, and now doesn't work or left or right. Even in that first week, it was still saying that I was jumping the faceoff when I didn't move it at all and now I can't even pass a challenge to win 25% of faceoffs with the stick in either direction when I am playing an ECHL team and have a player with an 89 faceoff stat. I was wondering if it is a console issue as mine has shut off multiple times despite being well ventilated in an air-conditioned house with two additional fans to blow out potential excess heat, even after changing the power supply (per a Microsoft employee suggestion), and even trying a new surge protector. You mentioning that you are having the same issue on a PS, and the fact that the only game I am having "controller issues" with is on an EA game specifically the NHL ones being the main EA games I play is making me question that.

Hello, @comanthing
Can you get some video of this happening? Make sure you show the controller overlay in the replay so I can see the controller inputs. Thanks!
Yeah, all my stuff is always up to date, I run a video production bizz and have been flying drones for over 10 years. I only mention this because I pay for and need a very fast internet connection and all my devices that I dont use to stream netflix are on ethernet, I use a controller very similar to a video game controller to fly my robots and the stick placement is key to operation so I know I didnt have a stroke and started placing the stick differently. And I update and check for firmware updates and 70x times more than average joe and Im always on top of that
I honestly think the gameplay team adjusted the size of the acceptable area to not trigger a too early warning in June/July of 2020 because that's when it started for me and other people, I've found that if I'm directly at 9:00 or maybe few smidges below that is does not trigger. I play this game everyday, I love the game and think you guys do a great job but if I'm correct and you did change this maybe a heads via a blog post like the MUT teams does would be appreciated next time you change something

Nothing has changed with faceoffs that I'm aware of. We're also getting very few complaints about this. Can you get me the video I requested? That would really help.

It’s happening to me now too. Exactly the same as the video the guy above posted.

From what I could see, they weren't holding to the left enough. That or there's a problem with the controller. We're not getting other reports of this and haven't been able to reproduce it. Can you try a different controller? If you're on Xbox, someone else suggested downloading an app that tests for drift with your controller.
I’ve used multiple controllers. Nothing I own is older than 4 months, I got all my stuff in October of last year. I’ve also checked for controller drift. The fact that there’s several threads like this, similar threads on Reddit, and several YouTube videos showing this problem tells me it’s not an isolated incident.

I don't doubt there are others with this issue, but it's most definitely rare compared to the rest of the playerbase. Previously, this has been a controller issue or the player isn't aiming at 9:00 with the stick. They're more around 10. That's not going to register as if you went completely to the left. Can you get a video of it happening?

I’ve been playing chel for 10 years. I promise you I didn’t just forget how to take face offs to that side.
