Any fix for this yet it happens to me as well with a right handed center on nhl 21 on ps5. Every time I try to take a back hand face off online only. He just jumps and says I am early if I hold 9 o’clock he will continue to jump early also is I hold 7 to 8 o’clock he still jumps early I have 3 ps5 controllers and they all do it so I know it’s not my controller
The only reason we've seen this happen is when you're pressing slightly up. So, around 2:30 or 9:30. If we find any issues with this, I'll post an update, but so far it hasn't been reproduced.

Same problem here, just occured, and have now been ongoing for a couple of days.
Please don't blame my controllers or my skille, this is definately a software bug........... - EA_Aljo5 years ago

Can you get me a video of this happening? Make sure you hit Y/Triangle to remove the replay controls and show the controller overlay.
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
OK,
But how do I make a video with controller overlay visible?

You'll need to pause the game. Then, go to Instant Replay. Then, hit Y/Triangle to remove the playback controls and display the controller overlay.

This is a video of one of the faceoff bugs.
Don’t know how to include the controller overlay!!

Please see my previous post for instructions on showing the overlay. If you're having trouble with those, please tell me which steps are confusing. The controller overlay is only visible in replays. It looks like you're pressing up. So, chances are good that your controller has a bit of drift or your stick is aimed more around 10-11:00 than 9:00.

I am following your instructions in regards to instant replay and video upload.
However the video isn’t showing the controller overlay.
Is there a way to turn on controller overlay or a function in setiings or any other places?

We'll go through this step by step. First, what system are you playing on? Also, are you able to find which button to press to pause the game? If so, do you see where it says Instant Replay?
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
I play on the PS 4.
When playing I hit the options button and then I get access to the instant replay menu.
In the instant replay menu I hit the triangle button, and upload the video to my YouTube channel. - EA_Aljo5 years ago

Great! Just embed the video here or provide a link to them and I'll check them out. Also, would you be able to try another controller just to rule out any issues with it?
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
I have tried another controller, same results.
I have linked to the video previously in this thread.

I saw the video, but it doesn't show the controller overlay so I can't see where your stick is aimed.
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
Back to square one then.
How do I get the video to show the controller overlay?
I am following your steps, but the overlay isn’t showing.

Can you view the instant replay screen? You should see the playback controls at the bottom. Look for the button that says "Hide". It's right between Height and Camera. That is the button you hit to remove the playback controls and show the controller overlay. It is going to be Y if you're on Xbox or Square if you're on PlayStation.
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
Okay, I will try that.
I was under the impression that triangle was the hide button.
I will post a new video and get back to you again

Yes. It hides the playback controls so the controller overlay is displayed.
Also, I'm leaving in a few minutes and will be gone until Tuesday. I won't be able to respond until then, unfortunately. The best I can advise is to pay attention to where the stick is being aimed when you're trying to take faceoffs. So far, we haven't found any issues with this and these reports have always been either controller related or due to someone just not moving their stick to 9:00. If you're a little above that, more like 10:00, your player will make the animation that yours is.

Thanks, I will have a closer look

Now I finally got the controller overlay to work.
The problem now is, that it only shows the overlay when I am in puck position, and I am not in puck position under the face-off situation, which means there is nothing to look at.
I have done a full reset on both my controllers. The problem only occurs when I have my right thumb stick to the left.
Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, I don't have any other suggestions. So far, we have had a very small number of reports on this. Each time it was found to be a faulty controller or they weren't aiming directly at 9:00 with the right stick. Is this happening in every mode?

I have same issue here. Usually no problem at the start of playing but after few minutes it starts to happen. Sometimes there is a faceoff and I dont even touch the controller and the player constantly trying to win it. It might be issue with my controller, but it happens on both of them(one of them is few months old). Maybe adding some kind of setting so it would not react on 8:30 - 9:30/2:30-3:30?
- Hjalle_DK5 years agoRising Rookie
Please stop EA. You have a bug - period.

So far, we haven't found this to be a bug. There are very few people reporting it and we haven't been able to reproduce this. If it is found to be a bug, we'll post an update saying so.
It still happens, as far as reproducing it you're asking us to set up a camera on a tripod at an angle that records your hand on the controller and the screen and just record until this happens again which is ridiculous and I'm a cinematographer! If you position your stick directly at 9:00 it usually does not do it so I created a team of all right-handed centerman to improve muscle memory. However, now and then it just triggers, I kind of stopped caring and I'm sure as hell not going to endlessly shoot and edit video just so you believe people. I created this post about a year ago and I get emails all the time to more and more people experiencing the same thing. My take is that the ea NHL adjusted something in code that created a smaller margin of error in stick placement when the stick is supposed to be placed at 9:00 rather than 3:00 and sometimes even though your right at 9;00 it still triggers a too early, you lose this faceoff alert. It's not a big deal, it's a great game but this happens. I understand that the ea team has a lot of variables they can't control, like condition and quality of controllers but how many more people need to say something before you all at least acknowledge that this could be an error in the game?

We'll keep an eye out for this. So far, there is an extremely low number of reports of this happening. I've played well over 1000 games of NHL 22 myself and haven't experienced this. Should we find a way to reproduce it, I'll update here. When the stick is at 9:00, it won't happen, but if you move towards 12 or 6 too much, it will. That is intended. So far, I can't get it to happen when aiming at 9:00 or moving slightly above or below that.
