Could you please look into the contract issues? Once we you get 5 to 7 years into Franchise, all of a sudden your Low Elite Potential, 3rd line Forwards, who are getting 3rd Line Minutes are asking for 12 to 14 million, while Med Franchise Players, are asking for 10 million, and they've been getting Line 1 Minutes and have 93 overall ratings.Just revamp the logic please?

I have had players who never played an NHL game want 10 million for an extension. They spent 2 seasons in AHL improved enough to make the NHL roster for 3rd season and want insane money as a 78 overall unproven low elite player. It has been this way for several years now.

Got some word back on why those specific players are asking for more money (Dach, Hayton, Kravtsov etc.). It's because they have potential and know that, so they are going to grow and will ask for more money. Team got word of the feedback here and this thread. They don't consider what you mentioned above a "bug" but took note this is what you all would like to see for future improvements in Franchise. I want to set expectations right here from the get-go. I do not anticipate in changes around this in the current title due to their existing workload, but if anything changes we will let you know right away. Please continue to post examples in this thread you would like to see changes around so we can keep tabs on this forum and continue to ping the team throughout the year.

@EA_Blueberry ok, thanks for the notice.I fully understand the potential aspect of it, but it doesn't make much sense for a player with 7 career points to ask for anything more than a million (in the case of Hayton), likewise with Dach asking for 13 million with less than 100 career points. I wouldn't consider it a bug either as the system seems to be working the way it has been told to, but just might not fully have the logic that it should.Just something for the team to chew on and think about.

Although I haven’t come across these demands myself yet in 22, I find it pretty strange that it’s not considered a bug as this is from the deep dive in NHL 20. OTHER CHANGESPTS/G Salary Mod - Performance based Salaries; Players who do exceptionally well will ask for a lot more money. In some sims players reaching 100+ points and asks for 10 million dollars, in other sims the same player has sub 1.00 PPTS/G and asks for ~8 million. This should also fix the issue where players who are in the minors and ask for 2M+ without ever playing in the NHL.Teams will now put bad contracts on the trade block to free up cap space if an RFA (Restricted Free Agent) player wants a contract extension and they don't have cap space.So, it sounds like it used to be a problem and was fixed to avoid having contract demands like this, so why would they change it back to what it was before??It also mentions trading players in order to have money to sign RFA’s which I have not seen happen for the last couple of years, some of the AI team's best players still sit out the entire year due to not having sufficient cap space to sign them.

@kyl_35 I’ve always had the scoring on default settings, so medium. Never touched the shooting stuff too often… how does that make the goalies stats? I was always worried about having the goalies either be too good, or too bad. Never found a medium balance..
I wish EA could make it so that the default settings don’t * everything up… or really have any settings * anything up lol..

Goalie stats are a bit higher than normal and it’s pretty frequent that you get a goalie conn smythe winner, but that’s what I personally want, lol.

I’m betting it would be fine if you leave the shooting the same and just lower the scoring.

@kyl_35 If I remember correctly.. just lowering the scoring didn’t really do much for me… still had good goalies playing poorly and bad goalies playing decent/poorly.. and then players weren’t getting many points.. I lost all patience in trying to tweak the game to make it good.. especially because the clunky slow laggy menus.. if the menu interface was crisp and didn’t take forever to navigate and respond I would probably spend more time trying out new things.. but just like most things EA does with the NHL series, I just can’t stand it lol..

@heavydutyrammer i just use high shot totals and normal scoring and it's not awful. Top goalie numbers aren't terrible (around .920%), but quickly fall off to .900%. Scoring isn't great but there are a few 100 point getters every year, but the obvious one is almost never there, and when he is he barely scraps in

@EA_Blueberry I disagree with your devs that this isn't a bug. Seems like the developers are taking the easy way out. Being a software engineer myself.. if I was tasked to code this, I would want to make it as realistic as possible. With these crazy contract asks in this thread, this would be deemed a bug!! They should look into this and resolve it.

An example is with Brock Boeser. Started a brand new career and to sign him to an extension .. on a 5yr extension, he wants over 10M per season. I got him to sign a 5 yr 9.9M extension. No way he would get this type of extension in the real world. Brayden point who is much better and plays C which is a more important position, signed an 8yr extension at 9.5M per. To get Brock on a 8 yr deal in the game.. he wants over 12M per which is not realistic and therefore should be a bug! When I read articles about what Brock's ask could be.. he would be around 8.5M tops on a 7 yr extension. Compared to what the game suggests.. its a 2 to 3M difference per year which is a BIG difference.

Can you explain again how this is not a defect?

@Jtwong2780 I wouldn’t compare the number of Point’s cap hit, I’d compare the percentage of the cap when signed.

But yes, this should be deemed a bug. Sometimes it makes sense, other times it’s like a 4 year old with candy. McDavid should not be asking for anything less than 15 million in his 3rd NHL deal, yet I have yet to see him sign for more than 12 million. On that same note, NO player should be asking for 18 million at any point before the cap ceiling hits 100 million

@johum2886 makes sense to use percentage as the comparison.. mind you since the cap is gonna be go up only by 1M at most next season.. point and boeser will be entering their extension at the same time.. so I thought that is a good comparable to use.. 9.5M for the 2022 - 2023 season... where as for Brock based on NHL 22.. would be 9.9M on a 5 yr deal for 2022-2023.. on an 8 year deal.. its around 12M .. so i thought that is a good comparable.

@Jtwong2780 Very true. Cap isn’t changing from this years 81.5 anyways so arguing this for this scenario is irrelevant

Either way, the programming needs to be fixed/updated on this given that Boeser should be asking for 2-3 million less than Point, not the other way around

Isn't this more opinion though on how you value the player?

The team is aware of the feedback, shot this over to them in chat and it's been acknowledged as an area they can look into improving. Due to the current workaround they have scheduled I don't anticipate any changes around the structuring of these contracts this season, unless there are changes ahead that alter time-frames. I'd say having it more closely resemble where an individual feels a player's true contract value in real life is an area for improvement rather than bug where it acts in a way not intentionally designed. Is it perfect? No. Can it be improved, yes.
