Could you please look into the contract issues? Once we you get 5 to 7 years into Franchise, all of a sudden your Low Elite Potential, 3rd line Forwards, who are getting 3rd Line Minutes are asking for 12 to 14 million, while Med Franchise Players, are asking for 10 million, and they've been getting Line 1 Minutes and have 93 overall ratings.Just revamp the logic please?

I have had players who never played an NHL game want 10 million for an extension. They spent 2 seasons in AHL improved enough to make the NHL roster for 3rd season and want insane money as a 78 overall unproven low elite player. It has been this way for several years now.

Got some word back on why those specific players are asking for more money (Dach, Hayton, Kravtsov etc.). It's because they have potential and know that, so they are going to grow and will ask for more money. Team got word of the feedback here and this thread. They don't consider what you mentioned above a "bug" but took note this is what you all would like to see for future improvements in Franchise. I want to set expectations right here from the get-go. I do not anticipate in changes around this in the current title due to their existing workload, but if anything changes we will let you know right away. Please continue to post examples in this thread you would like to see changes around so we can keep tabs on this forum and continue to ping the team throughout the year.

@EA_Blueberry ok, thanks for the notice.I fully understand the potential aspect of it, but it doesn't make much sense for a player with 7 career points to ask for anything more than a million (in the case of Hayton), likewise with Dach asking for 13 million with less than 100 career points. I wouldn't consider it a bug either as the system seems to be working the way it has been told to, but just might not fully have the logic that it should.Just something for the team to chew on and think about.

Although I haven’t come across these demands myself yet in 22, I find it pretty strange that it’s not considered a bug as this is from the deep dive in NHL 20. OTHER CHANGESPTS/G Salary Mod - Performance based Salaries; Players who do exceptionally well will ask for a lot more money. In some sims players reaching 100+ points and asks for 10 million dollars, in other sims the same player has sub 1.00 PPTS/G and asks for ~8 million. This should also fix the issue where players who are in the minors and ask for 2M+ without ever playing in the NHL.Teams will now put bad contracts on the trade block to free up cap space if an RFA (Restricted Free Agent) player wants a contract extension and they don't have cap space.So, it sounds like it used to be a problem and was fixed to avoid having contract demands like this, so why would they change it back to what it was before??It also mentions trading players in order to have money to sign RFA’s which I have not seen happen for the last couple of years, some of the AI team's best players still sit out the entire year due to not having sufficient cap space to sign them.

@EA_Blueberry Its not on how I value the player.. this is based on how analysts, reporters and NHL staff value the player...

Many will agree that Boeser is not worth the same amount as Point...

EA Boeser wants over 12M... thats a difference of 2 to 3 M..

They also enter their extensions the same year which is the 2022 to 2023 offseason.

To me this is more of a defect... if the difference was I can sign Boeser to an 8year extension at 9.5 M ... then fine.. i can live with that and yes, improvements are needed still ... but we are talking about over 12 M on the same term.

Franchise mode should be similar to real life... the fact that you have all these contracts that other players are encountering for not even top 6 forwards ... shows that its more of a bug than an improvement.

@EA_Blueberry Do any of the game devs follow hockey in real life?.. I mean I’d hope so lol.. Franchise Mode.. signing players to contracts.. they should know that Kaprizov 91ovr asking for 16M, and Mcdavid 96ovr asking for a tad under 12M isn’t right.. they should know that 38yo 72ovr Cam Atkinson shouldn’t be asking for 3.5M… even if they weren’t hockey fans or didn’t know what a puck is.. they should know by the numbers that something isn’t right.. it is NOT “individual” opinion on the player..
there is clearly players that are objectively better and deserve more money than other players.. and there are objectively worse players that shouldn’t be asking for the contracts they do.. this is just bad programming that we have been mentioning for years.. and years..

@kyl_35ive thought this as well. It's way too easy to shed bad contracts, even on hard trade value, often to a team that then can't sign a key player due to lack of cap

Just curious, has anyone played franchise mode with cap off? Wondering what you are seeing...do some teams start getting all the good players either on free agency or trades just like in the past prior to cap era?
With this contract insanity, I bet this is what EA is hoping we do...just turn off the cap.

@Jtwong2780 I played with it off and just played all of the top players in the AHL, kept signing and didn't even notice what anyone was asking for. I wonder if it actually affects how much players ask for
