GM mode - cut players

Can not sign any free agents as my roster is full, need to cut players. I am mid way through a season and there appears to be no option to do this.

I am looking to cut AHL players if it matters.

Thanks

You can't straight up cut players in the NHL, which is why you can't in the game. If you need to free up some roster space, try trading an expendable player for a late-round draft pick, or whatever it is you wish to do.

If a player in the minors  rating is high enough you can bring him up and try to put back in the minors. He'll have to go thru waivers.Might get picked up another team.

  • I have 3 players on my minor league edit lines screen that do not show up in the roster movement screen or my contracts screen.  I cannot move them, but how can I get rid of them.  They are dead weight.

  • Those players in your minor league team aren't actually counting toward your roster salary. They are just extras that EA puts on your team in case you do not fill a roster, and I'm sure they're the same players for everybody. Try running another franchise and see if it's the same guys. But they are there in case you're not caring about your minors and in case if injuries.

The first season or two you usually don't have many AHL or a Juniors unsigned pool, so that's there to give you extra just-in-case depth.
