How do I stop my d-men from splitting in the d-zone and then stopping?

That’s the thing though. I was aiming down to swap to my d-man, but it gave me the left wing first. So is there no way to defend a scenario like that? If the game skates your dmen out of position and then won’t let you swap to your dman in time, just accept the game is gifting your opponent a goal?

That's pretty odd you got the left-wing when aiming down. I'll keep an eye out for odd behavior like this since I use manual switching a lot. Thank you for the feedback on this.
