What you mentioned is correct. If I get to close the CPU easily and quickly steals the puck from me. When I play against my Son In Law, I hear a "click: , and he steals the puck easily from me like the CPU would do. My question to you is can you tell me which button(s) I can push for me to do the same? Please advise.

AI players not taking defensive actions is only in HUT and doesn't apply to offline modes.
There really isn't a button you press. You just skate into the other player and knock the puck loose. Attributes and positioning determine which player picks up the puck.

I know skating toward the player does it, but as I mentioned when my Son In Law gets close to my player I always hear a "Click", and he takes the puck away easily. There is a button or buttons he always pushes. Maybe someone on the panel knows?

@UnwiserSpider76 You can press square (X on Xbox) to initiate a stick lift - I've literally only had success using it once but some players have it down to a science. Could also just be your son using incidental contact to his advantage and clicking the left stick to activate hustle?
Edit: If the click you're mentioning is an audio cue in-game, it could just be the sticks colliding like Aljo mentioned - EA_Aljo4 years ago

There is no button he pushes. That's just the sound of sticks colliding.

I don't think so. I only a "Click" when he steals the puck from me.

Hi TTZ, that might be it, although I thought you use the "A" button for a stick lift? Maybe my Son In Law presses the "X" causes the clicking sound?

You get the click sound when picking up the puck as well. So, if you're knocking the puck loose through incidental contact, the player that picks it up will generate the click sound.

When I take a puck a puck from the CPU and/or another player, I never hear the "clicking" sound. When I take it it it is usually not "Clean". There has to be something else involved for a "Clean" pick.

Can you take a video of this? It might be easier to explain then. That click sound is just from sticks colliding or picking up the puck. Actually knocking the puck loose is done by incidental contact, performing a stick lift or poke check. What do you mean by a "clean" pick up?
