To take an opposing player to the ground you need to dodge and when your opponent cleanly misses you, you need to pull or push on the left stick (this means toward the opponent or away from the opponent, dont just flick the toggle up or down you have to aim it) Most of the time the opposing player will just stumble a little or do swirling motion under your body (but this still gives you a good hitting opportunity), but if you time it perfectly and your opponent doesnt counter in time it will push/pull him to the ground ending the fight. This works best with bigger/stronger players or if your desperate and losing. The best strategy is to push or pull after every single successful dodge because even if the player doesnt fall it provide a great counter punch opportunity especially for people who just mash the punch stick.

I think they need to integrate a stamina bar for fighting. I'm tired of this game favoring kids who just swing their fists in a fight. I dodge, and counter punches all the time and these kids who don't know how to fight and still lose. It doesn't make any sense. Yes I agree that a slug fest between two fighters should happen every once in a while. But this game has to stop letting kids benefit from not knowing how to play this game, it's ridiculous! Force people to utilize all the mechanics of the game. You bring in the new fighting engine which is great but you don't round it out enough for it to work correctly. Just think logically when you put these tuner sets out. You have to start making this game better you can't just coast by making a half hearted piece of **bleep** every year just 'cause you know we'll buy it, it's not right.

when they add a new feature or modif it, they focus the game too much on those aspects. This year is fighting and body check, last year skating. How know you guys are trying to improve the game experience, but its allways come to a point where its just dont give the game any favor and frustrating everyone.

Just wanted to say again how fighting penalties make no sense in NHL14, but are so in actual real life NHL.
Tonight in a game versus Toronto and Calgary.
At 16:56 of the 2nd period (Wed Oct 30th)
Carter Ashton (of the Maple Leafs) makes a slightly dangerous hit.
He hits a guy from behind, and the guy falls into the boards.
Shane O'Brien (of the Calgary Flames) steps up for his fallen teammate.
He jumps on Ashton and starts a fight with him.
They both fight.
The referees asses the penalties as such :
Ashton - 2 minutes for boarding and 5 minutes for fighting
O'Brien - 2 minutes for instigating, 5 minutes for fighting and 10 minute game misconduct.
(I have seen this time and time again in the NHL it is called consistently, and even more so no penalty at all for a clean hit, but the teammate jumps in cause his teammate is down)
In EA's NHL14, usually the first guy gets 5 minutes for fighting and a game misconduct and sometimes rarely just the 5 minute major for the fight,
and the teammate who instigated the fight only gets the 5 minute major for fighting.
This is totally wrong, and should be fixed.
(also I'm still getting the 5 minute major penalty in the 3rd period and the fighting teammate on the opposition gets nothing and they then get a 5 minute major powerplay)
This is an example of what occured tonight, which is not realistic in NHL14.

Please fix this EA.
Thank you.

I have anothe issue.
I want my superstar to fight (created player). I have him as a power foward, fighting set to often, yet everytime I hit, a non fighter jumps in to fight in his place ...
Anything to do about that?
